I think the Falcons are worse without Vick!

Atlanta led the NFL in rushing each of the last three seasons thanks in large part to Vick's ability to run the ball himself. He was second on the team with 1,039 yards on the ground last season and averaged more than eight yards per carry, but much of the offense was built around gimmicks such as Vick rolling out with a run-pass option and an option running play that allowed Vick to keep the ball or hand to Warrick Dunn on a stretch play.

A little bit better. They can't do any worse. Vick was an ok QB, but nothing special. He was all hype because he was a #1 pick and is great at scrambling. As far as throwing the ball he wasn't anything special. Harrington I believe is a good QB who was on bad teams before. With Vick at QB they weren't a very good football team. If they do worse it won't be because of not having Vick, but because of a new Head coach trying to build a team.

Right now, worse because they are stuck with Joey Harrington instead. Though he is supposedly better suited for Petrino's typical offensive style, look at the talent he had around him in Detroit and he couldn't perform. Now he gets old Joe Horn, Roddy White, and Michael Jenkins, and his only quality option, Crumpler, is out for who knows how long.

Overall though, they could end up with a better QB in the long run. Vick is an exciting player who is tough to account for, but except for ridiculous arm strength, he is not cut out to be a top notch QB. The Falcons should have signed Culpepper when they could. Even if he doesn't get close to his former self, he will be better than Harrington.

Both. Better because they can move on and have a consistent passing game. Better because Vick would never have taken them far enough to win. Better because Vick was a dumb guy who did a very dumb thing. No, I'm not talking about giving females herpes and telling them his name was Ron Mexico. No, I'm not talking about trying to hide his pot in a stupid place. I'm not talking about flipping off the fans who pay their hard earned money and want to see some professionalism. He sacrificed millions of dollars to kill dogs. That is one of the stupidest decisions in the history of the NFL. Wow! what an idiot.

But, right now they don't have anyone else who can be that much better. I'd love to see Joey Harrington succeed after being on a terrible team in Detroit with terrible management and not having much better coaching in Miami. He's got a great chance this year to at least prove he can play. It's 50-50, but it would be nice to see him do well. He seems like a good kid and a victim somewhat of bad coaching. Some of what makes a quarterback good is landing with the right team and having a favorable situation. You need talent, but even great talent won't get you over the hump if you play for Detroit.

The Falcons are any different without Vick. I think they should have traded Schaub to the Texans, then gone after Carr after the Texans released him. Carr has one thing that Schaub does not, experience.

That being said, I don't think Vick was going to be good in Petrino's offense anyway. Vick is a scrambler with no accuracy. He relies on things breaking down so he can take the ball for himself. Petrino's attack requires that the QB have a pocket presence to deliver the ball accurately down the field. Harrington has the arm for it, but I don't think he has the knowledge to do it. Regardless, the Falcons and Petrino are not going to be happy with being the lead rushing team in the NFL. Petrino wants big passing plays and TD's.

HAHA have you seen who has to take over now???
Joey Harrington is one of the worst QB's to ever take a snap over the past couple years. I think Vick is overrated but he has his good days and sometimes find ways to lead his team to a win. Falcons won't see many wins with Harrington at QB, that's for sure. So I think the Falcons are worse without Vick...and without Schaub.

Vick has some talent, so I would say they are worse off -at least in the immediate future - without him . . . especially considering they were counting on him.

Too bad he couldn't temper some of that talent with any brains or morals or ethics.

Whether 'Ron Mexico' is giving fans "the finger," smuggling dope, killing dogs, sharing herpes or some other illicit behavior, he certainly has hurt his team, the organization and the sense of decency of good people everywhere.

Overall though - they are better off in the long run.

Goodbye Vick. Good riddance.

Well in all fairness, they weren't that good anyway. So I say they can't do anything but get better. Not going to happen over night but in a couple of years they'll be O K.
