I have a vaio TZ190.(u7600, 1.2ghz duo, 2gb ram, 226 shared video memory) and I really want to play diablo 1, half life, warcraft 3, command and conquer red alert, and such.

I really dont care about all those new games that you need a HUGE laptop to be able to play.... I prefer the old games.

Thanks

Try running them in compatibility mode. When you go to install it, right-click the setup program, select Properties, and go to the Compatibility tab. You'll know what to do from there. Do this for the installed program as well.

You could install and run them from a Flash drive, provided that you select the Flash drive as the install directory. You cannot, however, expect them to work if you take the drive to another computer. Many programs require "registry" entries in order to function properly. Unless the registry entries are the same on both computers, you cannot use it on both.

There is this cool thing that I just tested myself (though is not that new) and I liked it so much that I thought I should share. It is the Virtual PC. It is free from Microsoft (just go to microsoft.com and search for Virtual PC). It is the clean way to use older operating systems and programs and is actually intended for that use. Basically it will allow you to install 98, XP or whatever on your PC and is like you have several PC on the same machine. You will need however the Windows 98 or XP to be installed on the Virtual PC. Cannot explain all the details here but this is the idea. If you need more details you can contact me at webmaster@arizonaro.com. I have seen a previous answer advising to use the compatibility mode. I tried that for some older applications and was disapointed. I suppose it won't work for you.
