You obviously don't know what you are talking about.

First of all, Jeter is a .317 career hitter and at age 33, had over 2300 hits. He's a lock to get well over 3000. He is going to the Hall, my friend.

Second, who have they bought lately? Yes, they paid a lot for Clemens, but they didn't pay over $100 MILLION like Boston did for Dice-K, and they didn't have any outrageous signings last offseason.

Tell me again, exactly who have they bought? When they played Kansas City recently, they had SEVEN homegrown players in the lineup one day and SIX the next. Wang, Cano, Posada, Jeter, Cabrera, Pettitte, Rivera have been with them all season, now we can add, Chamberlain, Hughes, Andy Phillips, and Edwar Ramirez to that. I don't believe they "bought" those guys, did they? I didn't think so.

They can't seem to win any big games? Perhaps you've forgotten that they were FOURTEEN AND A HALF GAMES OUT in late May and now are FOUR GAMES OUT!!

"They bring back a pitcher who retired twice and still can't keep up in the big leagues"? Huh? What does that mean? What do you mean "Still"? If you mean Clemens, he has been great the past two starts and has a very good ERA. He also has 353 wins, so I don't quite know what you are talking about when you say "still can't keep up in the big leagues". I guess some people just don't have a clue.

Please, with the exception of Clemens, I'd like to know who the Yankees have "bought" over the past year.

I hate the Yankees and Jeter, but you're just wrong. Yankees have been on a tear the last month+. They may buy their players for top dollar but they have an incredible lineup. As for their twice retired pitcher (Clemens), he's not worth the nearly 1 million a start their paying, but he certainly can still pitch in the big leagues and may just be the best pitcher ever. Definitely in the top 3 ever. Jeter is not a good defensive SS, never has been, never will be. But, compare his stats to other players in the Hall of Fame. Like him or not, he'll likely be in the Hall one day with over 3,000 hits...

12 of the Yankees 25 man roster is home grown. Arod was a trade, Abreu was a trade. Molina was a trade. Damon, Pettite and Matsui came from free agency. That's THREE guys "bought" by the Yankees. Idiots like you show your ignorance every time you post stuff like this.

The Yankees cant keep up in the big leagues? What league are you watching? Four out in the AL East. A half game out of the wild card. Just won 7 of 8 from the "feared" AL central. Pay attention. You might learn something.

And Jeter? He is WIDELY accepted as one of the top ten best players in the game. Most managers agree that if they had to start a team from scratch that Derek Jeter would be the centerpiece of the team. But what do THEY know? A jerkwad on YA surely has more baseball information than all those pros.

Give it a rest.

EDIT TO SOULSOURCE

Kudos on being a BASEBALL fan. Thanks for the comments on Jeter. I've been to hundreds of games in Anaheim, and I know how hard it is for an Angel fan to compliment a Yankee.

Yankees are pretty good but are kinda overrated while Jeter's offense is AWESOME, his defense is VERY overrated. Yeah he made clutch defensive plays but.... Overall he's not very good.

The book The Fielding Bible by John Dewan has an essay by Bill James that talks about that Astros SS Adam Everett is much better than Jeter defensively. James found out evidence, and has suggested that Derek Jeter could be the worst defensive shortstop of all time (This one I SO disagree!). He says that, "Giving Jeter every possible break on the unknowns, he is still going to emerge as a below average defensive shortstop." The conclusion of the analysis done by Baseball Info Solutions' method (based on systematic observation) was that Derek Jeter "was probably the most ineffective defensive player in the major leagues, at any position."Many argue that the "clutch" label attached to Jeter is misplaced. For example, though Jeter is known as a great postseason performer, his postseason averages in categories like batting average and OPS are almost identical to his career regular season averages in those categories, suggesting that Jeter performs no better in "clutch" postseason situations than in less important regular season games.

I say he's just average... He's not overrated overall... Just his defense. His offense is one of the best man but his clutch batting is overrated...

"all the Yankees do is buy good players" i will like you to rethink this statement because that could not be any further from the truth. Over 12 of the player come from the Yank farm system Andy is home grown too even he come back via free agency who did they buy let say they brought Arod right Manny Ramirez, Vladimir Guerrero, David Ortiz, Carlos Beltran, Alfonso Soriano every team buy players don't blame the Yanks organization blame your sorry owners that's too cheap to spend money on your team. Red Sucks just spent 52 million on a pitchers they don't buy players only Yanks does give me a break. Jeter is not overrated his Mr. November the flip play to get out Jeremy Giambi and countless of great play over his career and don't forget 4 world series and his the CAPTAIN of the greatest team in the history of sports. Go Yanks all the way to the world series.

I think Jeter is probably the most underrated player right now, but the Yankees are way overrated.

Let's see. Jeter's career stats:

.317 BA, 2311 H, .389 OBP, .462 SLG, 376 2B, 53 3B, 191 HR, 917 RBI, .975 lifetime fielding percentage with 175 errors committed.

Sorry, but the guy's a first-ballot HOF'er whenever he retires. He easily gets to 3000 hits and probably ends with about 3500, which would put him in the top 5 all-time.

The Yankees of this Decade are mismanaged crap! And the Yankees fans of this decade are becoming like Cubs fans! "Sammy Sosa we love you! Don't hurt Sammy's feelings!"

They buy the best field players in the league, then when it comes to pitching? They buy an old man who BELONGS in the NL because the NL is where old crappy pitchers go to prolong their careers!

They have the BEST Short Stop to EVER play the position on their team and they choose the fan favorite "Skeeter" as Short Stop over him.

Mismanaged crap, with fans who are actually becoming baseball retarded because they live in the past!

The White Sox won the World Series 2 years ago and guess what? We are ready to run the Sox outta town this year! Sentimentality is for chick flicks!

the yankees don't just buy good players. look at their team now, pettitte, wang, and hughes came right out their farm system. cano, who has been the hottest hitter in baseball over the past few weeks is out of the farm . so is jeter who by the way leads the majors in average with runners is scoring position and two outs, is not the most overrate player. he is the most clutch player in baseball. he makes his occasional error but he is one the best fielding shortstops in the AL. melky cabrera adn shelly duncan are both out of the yankee farm system. rivera, chamberlain, and proctor (when he was with them), henn, and bruney in that bullpen were also part of that farm system. the yankees are not a team who just buys players. some of their stars were raised through the farm system and emerged as stars.

Your pathetic, you don't like the Yankees, so they're overrated? Maybe you should try watching a game, and not just the highlight reels on a Boston news program. At least that way you'll know what your talking about.
