it says adobe photoshop cs ver 8.0 when it loads up

and to answer ur other question im trying to do this

This is from a tutorial site

I'm going to rotate my polaroid to add a bit more interest to it. In order to do that, I need to select both layers in my Layers palette which make up my polaroid . I already have "Layer 4" selected, which makes up the outside of it, but I also need "Layer 3" selected, which makes up the inside, so with "Layer 4" selected, I'm going to hold down my Shift key and click on "Layer 3", which will select both layers at once (they'll both appear highlighted in blue):

but when i hold down my shift key nothing happens

Check that version number and add it to details of your question. I think CS 8.0 is non-existent.

There is a PS 7.0 and a PS 8.0. There is also a CS 2.0 and a CS 3.0. Which are you asking about?

Got it. You want layer 3 and 4 to be rotated on an angle.
You need to merge the 2 layers together.
click on layer 3, then press CTRL and click on layer 4. Then click CTRL E
This will make the 2 layers into 1 layer and you can rotate it or do whatever you like.

Selecting a layer makes it the one you are working on, so logically only one at a time. However, you can create sets of layers in the Layer palette menu, so that some actions affect all layers within that set. Does that help with what you are trying to do?
