I have a couple of surprise teams.

1. Washington-they made no major moves in the off season; all the guys that mattered last year are still there this season and have the chemistryand are healthy; Gibbs has also let go of the Brunell resurrection process and let a young stronger Campbell take his shot

2. Detroit Lions-Martz has the offense like he did in St. Louis. Bell and Jones are not Faulk, but I am sure he can create some kind of system for them to be effective. The WR's are the best in the league. The defense will tighten up and I am not really worried about the loss of Bly. They now run a traditional Cover 2 and the CB's will get help for the safeties. They may have trouble getting pressure and their LB's are suspect.

3. Oakland-No one doubts the defense. It was the only bright spot laast year. Davis is still playing games with Russell to the point I think that the GM has backed off the negotiations. Kiffin will take Culpepper, who is an upgrade from Walters, and will develop the offense using Porter as the deep threat and the two back system of Jordan and Rhodes. The line is still a problem, but having an experienced QB will help them view the blitz packages and get the hot routes. I am not looking at the playoffs for them, but I think KC will be in the basement of the NFC West probably with about 3-4 wins. San Diego is the class of that division with Denver a close second now that Norv Turner has the reigns. That leaves Oakland. I would have no problem giving them at least 6 wins and maybe 7 or 8 if Kiffin can adjust and find the Culpepper that Dennis Green had.

I have 2 teams that can surpirse people. I do agree with the Cardinals, they have all the tools to be a great team. Ken Whisenhunt and Russ Grimm ill bring attitude, physicalness and a sense of winning to the cardinals.

My other team is the Green Bay Packers. After seeing the Pittsburgh and the Seattle game, i'm truly convinced that defense is going to be one of the best this year. Tey have great depth at the D-lin and now finally can et pressure with just the front 4, something theyve lacked for a long time. the linebackers are very solid and he Secondary has arguably the best CB tandem behind Denver with Harris and Woodson. The offense won't be as flashy as it was in recent years, but the receivers look really good especially the emergence of James Jones who looks really good. Brandon Jackson might surprise a lot of people if he continues to play the way he has. This team can surprise a lot of people and has the potential to win 9-11 games and earn a playoff berth and even maybe the division if Chicago slips up even slightly.

I think the Raiders will be the biggest surprise time this year. Last season their defense finished 3rd overall in the NFL and their offense finished dead last which was really what was holding them back in the long run. The coaching staff didn't have a clue what was going on half of the time and the quarterback situation was killing them. This season Lane Kiffin is pulling that staff together and making good choices like moving Robert Gallery to the left side of the line where he can be more productive. Daunte Culpepper is looking like he is returning back to form and meshing very well with his new offense. Lamont Jordon is looking really good as is Dominick Rhodes, coming together to bring a running game out of nowhere. I personally think with all of this finally coming together that Oakland is going to surprise a lot of people this season. I'm not saying playoffs, but they'll definitely be a force to reckon with if taken lightly.

in total seriousness i think that the raiders are going to surprise a lot of people

last year they had a top 10 DEF but just couldn't figure out how to put a drive together on OFF, but all that can now be resolved by the edition of daunte culpepper

he used to be an amazing qb but after moss left the viks everything seemed to go south for him

now he is on a team with a young OFF that will try and win some ball games, look for them to win 7 or 8 games

I don't think that there is a Saints out there this year. As for bigggest improvement over last year in terms of more games won, I'd go with either the Redskins (they'll win 8-9 vs. the 5 from last year) or the Bucs (7-8 vs. last year's 4). As for drop-offs, look for Dallas, Baltimore, and the Jets to fall well off last year's pace.

The Packers are going to be the surprise team of 2007, picking up where they left off from their last four games of 2006. With an awesome defense,a great young receiving corps led by Donald Driver,a promising running back in Brandon Jackson,&an improved special teams, it'll be enough to give Brett Favre a season to remember...which could be his last.

Houston Texans.
Watch out for the Texans. With the Additions of Matt Schaub, a healthy O-line, RB Green, and the rookie Jacoby Jones. The Texans might have a shot at a wild card berth.

I know its preason but Matt Schaub has been sack 0 times, Sage has been sack once, thats it. The o-line has only given up 1 sack the whole preseason, David Carr has been sacked 3 or 4 times already in Carolina. David carr threw alot of screen passes that is why he completed 60 percent of his throws. I think the Texans will go 10-6 this season

I like the cards as well. If they can protect Leniart and give Edge some running room. They will be a shocker in the NFC West. I also think the Texans will be a shocker this year. No one will see them comming if they can protect Schab they will be a above .500 team. 9 wins for both texans and cards.

The 49ers because they have the pieces in place Alex Smith improved a lot last year, Frank Gore is a beast, Vermon Davis is a nice te and they where very active in free agency they signed Nate Clemens to a long term contract.

I think that the Packers will suprise us, they won there last 4 regular season games and then won 2 more preseason games, inlcuding a big whooping on the Seahawks. If Greg Jennings can step up and not get injured again, Brett will find him and Driver....
