You could ask for financial statements. In fact, detailed financial statements. Try to determine what percentage of the donations are used for actual "good deeds" and what percentage goes to fund raising and administration.

Your money will be combined with other donations and spent on the charitable purpose of the organization. They can give you a general idea but not specifically. Alternatively, you can designate that it be spent on a purpose of your choice. In other words when you make your contribution you can specify where the funds are to be spent. They must lawfully comply with your designation or risk losing their tax exempt status.

when u donate money to an organization of course u should have know whats it 4.. if u just donate w/out knowing whats it 4... its better to tell them that the money is intented for charitable causes... u can also ask for a receipt of your donation... i am connected with one of the largest organization know worldwide (Rotary International) and they have the most worthwhile projects for humanity... ask in u local community if there is a rotary club existing and tell them that u want to be a Paul Harris Fellow and donate US$1,000... and they will sure explain the thing u needed to know... gudluk !!!

1st you should of asked what the money was being used for to begin with.
Just ask them....what have you used the donated money for?
