By definition there is no such thing. To be a machine gun, it has to go full auto.
Also - Lisa, a fully auto real machine gun is ILLEGAL to buy and own. Fully auto weapons have been illegal to own in the US since the National Firearms Act of 1934. Do a bit of research and stop showing the world how stupid you are.
This also brings up a good point about Clinton's "Assault Weapon Ban" of 1994. No assault weapons were banned!! Again, by definition, an assault weapon must go full-auto (along with other characteristics), which means assault weapons have NEVER been legal to own in the US. The first assault weapon was the German Sturmgewehr 44 introduced in 1944. This would have been 10 years after such a weapon was banned in the United States. All other "assault weapons" came after this, of course.
Johnboy - you are kind of correct. You must be a dealer and you have to go through an amazing amount of paperwork and background checks and red tape to obtain a Federal permit to own such a weapon. But, it is easier to get a top secret clearance that it is to get that kind of permit. It is a bit more than sending in $200.00 a year.
EDIT again - Johnboy - your "source" is an anti-gun website dedicated to the destruction of the 2nd amendment. It is fatally flawed. The facts of the matter remains...you do not have to own a gunstore, but have to meet status of a dealer. You also have to apply to the Federal Government to obtain the proper license in order to obtain LEGALLY a fully auto weapon. This process is EXTREMELY indepth and rigorous and is VERY difficult to pass. If, however, you wish to posess a fully auto weapon ILLEGALLY, well, if you have the money and means, you can own ANYTHING ILLEGALLY in this country.

First, to answer your trick question, there's no such thing as a semi-automatic machine gun.
In response to fishguy, I suggest you do some research on the subject yourself before berating the other folks who are trying to contribute.
It is NOT illegal to own a machine gun in the US. The National Firearms Act of 1934 did not ban the ownership of machine guns, it merely placed restrictions on it. Prior to that, anyone could buy or own a machine gun. One of the restrictions was a $200 transfer tax, which was a hefty sum at the time.
You do not have to be a dealer to buy a machine gun. As long as your state allows them (I think about 15 states don't), any law abiding citizen over 21 can purchase one.
There is no "federal license" to own a machine gun. When you purchase the machine gun, it is tranferred to you in ATF's registry. There is a one time $200 transfer tax for this. This does not have to paid yearly.
To get the transfer done, there is an FBI background check done. It is not difficult to pass this as long as you do not have a criminal background. The paperwork process takes about 2 months or less.
I own a legal machine gun, and have several friends who do also. It's not that difficult to do, provided you have the money to buy the gun in the first place.
The link below is an FAQ of everything you need to know about machine gun ownership in the US.

You are asking about 'machine guns', and then AR-15's. You can legally buy any of the guns you mentioned in semi auto. The SKS/AK47 would be illegal for you to have in the US if it was an automatic weapon. If you want an automatic "ar-15", that would be an M-16A, which would have to be made prior to 1986. You would also need to be 21 and have around $12-16,000. SO, if you want to buy a military looking semi auto AR-15 or any other commie surplus stuff, yes you may as long as you are over 18 and pass the background check. And if you use the term 'Assault rifle", its very possible that you might get the rifle shoved up your AS$. Many firearms dealers an enthusiests get really annoyed when the "assault" word pops up, mostly because its a word that the liberal politicians and the media use to make regular old semi auto rifles soung "evil". Change your use of words, and eliminate the word "Assault".

You can buy a fully automatic firearm any where if you have the proper permits. If you don't have have the permits you just need to know the right people.
EDIT: To fishguy, you can legally own a fully automatic firearm if you can obtain the permits. I believe the fees are a $200 one time transfer of ownership tax.
EDIT: It's really not hard at all Fishguy. It is also a big help if you live in a free state. Check this link.

Getting an FFL is easy enough to if you don't have a criminal record. I know several individuals in my community that have FFL s and these guys do not own gun stores.

You sound like a news dweeb, from the same land where a 9mm popgun makes a car roll over and explode, or da Schwartz who thinks a .50 BMG can be used to bring down aircraft fired from the shoulder (like swatting flies with a flag pole folks). So all .50 are illegal in Calif.
Assuming that you are using the standard definition of a machine gun, which is or can be belt fed, you have your answer already.
Just FYI, does everybody know that the biggest private arsenal in the U.S. belongs to the Kennedy family? Rent-a-wino-cop companies are third.
Now, are gatling guns legal? They are not full automatic otherwise they wouldn't be faster than machune guns.

Why would you want a semi automatic gun to shoot machines ??
Those poor machines never hurt anyone !!!!!!!!
Or do you want a semi automatic machine, thats also a gun ?
I don't think transformers are real, even if it was a movie.
But then, it was in a movie, and we all know the government would prevent any movie that wasn't true.
For myself, I want a semi automatic muzzle loader.
Know where I can get one ????

The other answers seem to imply that there's no such thing. But if there was, I bet you could buy it in Switzerland.
