I have never experienced Tornados, Hurricanes, or Tidal waves. Just big earthquakes. I think that hurricane thing looks scary.

I have been through three tornados. That was a bit scary.I live in Canada so we don't have hurricanes or earthquakes.Although about seven years ago we felt the "after shock" of and earthquake in the states. It onlylastest seconds but it was enough to shake us up a bit ;)

They can each be scary based on the magnitude of the disaster.

With earthquakes, there is no legitimate early warning system. I have lived through several earthquakes here in California but I have never been in an area where buildings or bridges collapse. Earthquakes are also the main cause of
Tsunami’s. For those reasons, I would say that earthquakes potentially are the scariest type of natural disaster.

Tornado's would come in 2nd on my list. Although the National Weather Service can tell you when storms have a high possibility (or probably) of occurring, they cannot predict where they will touch down.

I would rank Tsunami's as the 3rd scariest natural disaster because we can now identify potential tsunami threat areas and, with the preceding earthquake, we have an early warning telling us to move to high ground just in case.

I would rank Hurricanes 4th on this list only because we can now track hurricanes well in advance and estimate how powerful they will be when they come ashore. This usually gives us enough time to evacuate and not experience it first hand.

I would rank volcano's 5th on this list because Scientists are always monitoring active volcano’s and generally do a good job of advising of evacuations when eruption is eminent.

With all of that said, they are all the scariest of natural disasters if you are actually caught in a catastrophic natural event.

Hurricanes you can get information about well ahead of time. Flash floods, well you can find some higher ground. Wildfires, once again, you can get information well ahead of time. I've been through earthquakes and they're not too bad. I'd say it can be up there when it's a bad earthquake. So I guess tornadoes and tsunamis are the highest for me. Volcanic eruptions would be up there, but it doesn't all just blow without warning. Geologists have some knowledge into what is going on.

Definitely Tornados because they come out of nowhere and you don't have any time to prepare, evacuate, or take shelter. I'm a Florida resident so I've been in a few hurricanes and you always have at least a couple of days of warning before it hits. Earthquakes look terrifying too especially since I've never been in one.

Hurricanes aren't fun. Neither are tornadoes but at least you have a bit of warning [usually]. Same with volcanoes. But earthquakes just happen. Maybe someday they'll be able to put out early warning for them but until then they're at the top of my list.

All natural disasters are very scary.

I have lived through many hurricanes and tornadoes, every one as scary as the next.

Happy to have made it this far!

I think a Tornado would be, because there is only a short warning period, and they move around too much. I've been in an earthquake, several in fact, and they don't scare me at all.
