Like what was posted higher up from me, some actually consider "cracker" a compliment. The word originated from the African slaves of old, and served as a name for the white man with the whip. You actually ask a good question, for the word itself doesn't bother me as I know where it comes from. But just like every name used in a derogatory way, it should be removed from every ones vocabulary. Some people view "cracker" as dastardly as the "N" word, and those that use "cracker" as a form of negativism are no better than those who use the "N" word.
Though we all have racist thoughts and feelings from time to time, we all just need to step back and view each other as humans, nothing more. Though it doesn't help that we as people (especially Americans) play into our stereotypes, whites and blacks included, it would be nice for all of this to end. But in all honesty that will never happen in our generation, let alone in generations to come, if in fact ever.

Well, dear...that just isn't true and if you'd spend more time paying attention to the truth instead of believing the hype you'd know that.
What it really is is that blacks don't go around calling white people crackers, there are worse things to call people than cracker. And people know that the n word is fueled by hate and IS the worst thing you can say to a black person.

First off, you can call anyone anything you want. It is just a question of how they are going to respond.
I think, generally, Caucasian people are less likely to respond with violence than African Americans, or at least that is the general opinion of society. Whatever may be true, this is strengthened by media's desire to place a blame on the "Black Man." I don't mean that term negatively, more in a phrase that I often associate as a scapegoat. You see, crimes where there is an African American involved are reported on the media significantly more often than their white counterparts, per capita.
This fuels a perspective of society that African Americans are less, they don't feel part of our society and then they (sometimes) become part of the corrective system because of our difference in view creates a self-fulfilling prophecy.
That makes them more likely to hate Caucasians and more likely to band together if they are getting harassed. We already view them as less so we don't find the need to report that view.
In the end, I always sit back and laugh at those who have to utilize those kinds of words in order to pick at someone. To me, it is equivalent to saying that you really have nothing negative to say about that person so you are going to resort to saying something that they have no control over. People can call me a cracker all they want. It only offends me if I let it.

you can say anything you want, it's a free country.
My question is, why would you want to? This is not some juvenile name-calling game. It's wrong for a black person to call you cracker, and it's wrong for you to call a black person a ******. If you're racist, you're probably thinking it anyway, so why not say it?
Go ahead. Get it out. Don't stew in anger. SAY IT!!!

whites being called crackers originated during slavery because they were the ones cracking the whips! The slaves would warn other slaves by saying "the crackers are coming!" which meant the people that were on the way to crack them with whips were coming

White people know that the ones who say statements that are derrogatory use the word ******. So don't lie. Honestly i hardly hear black americans use the term cracker but if they do they're just as ignorant as white folks who talk ill of black people.

there is a lot of racist people in the world you shouldn't have to say anything cause you'll be one of them i understand your question though very much cause there is a lot of offensive comedy on bet there also white comedians on there too but i think it should just be comedy instead of making fun of stereotypes i'm in an interracial relationship an i catch hell all day an every day. i remember in school how people would say cracker and honkey and if u say something to them they want to fight. just like moma jokes its said to be funny until someone takes it the wrong way. its a trap baby turn the other cheek. jesus said for us to love one another. in heaven everyone gets along.

People can call each other names and make fun of each other all they want but they are only hurting themselves by acting like little children. You can either get even by stooping to the level of your instigator or you can just let it slide. It is much harder to just let things go and usually the harder thing to do is the correct thing to do
