Hi Shylgiht.
I do this same thing where I'm writing and I find another inspiration and I NEED to start writing. I think that when writing two stories at once it can help you get to know the characters in each story better, because you need to keep them straight when you're writing. It's good practice. But then again, the plots may get confused in your head. I suggest writing any plot changes or new ideas down immediately and keep them organized. Plus, characters' personalities can get intertwined sometimes if your not careful. A good tip is to keep two separate notebooks. When you take time to really work on writing, use that time to work on one story. Don't thin you need to split it up so you can stay on top and on task with whatever timetable you've set up for yourself. This will keep your mind on one track and it'll eventually get easier. KEEP WRITING. My bad habbit it that I start a story and then get inspiration for another and I never finish the first, or the ninth (...I've done it so many times_ :-P).
Good luck!
♥ Peace

Well, one advantage I could see is the possibility of facing a block with one story while not with the other. I know writer's block is you can't come up with anything to write, either new or to continue what you've already started. But I've had a few times where I've not been able to think of something to continue one story yet I can still work on another.
However, I think it's even worse when you've got multiple stories going and you just hit the wall without anything coming to mind for any of them. Also, you've got to divide your time over mutiply stories. Which will cause it to take longer per story you're writing.

I currently have about 6 stories in the works, plus a dozen more in the planning stage. The biggest advantage is when writer's block gets you on one story, you can always jump to another one. The disadvantage is that you can get confused with characters you are writing.

I'm not sure of really any advantages (except maybe if you get bored with one you can go to the other) but with disadvantages there's time, confusion, etc.

If you keep two stories going at the same time, it's nice, because you can switch to one when you're tired of the other, and return to the first one to look over it with a fresh mind.
