Look into Sedro Woolley in Skagit County, NW Washington. You will be close to the mountains(45 minutes to an hour to Cascades National Park-breathtaking), and about 30-40 minutes to the north end of the Puget Sound. The town of Sequiem(pronounced 'Squim') on the north side of the Olympic Peninsula would be a good place-lots of temperate rain forest and good sized mountains nearby(also breathtaking). There are several small-and slightly larger and busier-towns nearby if these seem remote. I currently live in Kelso, in the SW. I love it, but the natural beauty of the area doesn't match up with the areas I described in the NW; its still nice tho(St. Helens and Mt. Rainier are just 1 1/2 hours away). The weather is very moderate, cool at night during the summer, not too hot during the day. Moderate winters, very little snow. I'm originally from Jersey, and retired;don't know much about the job situation. The PNW beats the northeast by 100 light years. The Long Beach Peninsula area is beautiful too. Take some vacation time and explore these areas. You wont be disappointed.

There are all sorts of great areas right around Seattle, but not Seattle that are fantastic! I'd say Edmonds! It's such a beautiful town, it retains a small-town sort of feel to it with a community feeling in the city. There's a great street market on Saturdays that is great to pick up fresh produce, flowers, and just have fun walking around! The waterfront in Edmonds, by the ferry terminal is breathtaking! The sweeping waterfront views of the islands and Puget Sound are spectacular! I ride down to the waterfront every weekend, grab a coffee and just enjoy the mornings out there! "Downtown" Edmonds is small, but full of great little shops like the Cheesemonger, Boutiques, small restaurants, and such! You can catch trains that run through Edmonds up north to Vancouver BC! Edmonds is close enough to head down to downtown Seattle in 20-30 minutes, to Lynnwood and Alderwood Mall for good shopping in 5-10 minutes, the Eastside in 30 minutes, yet all tucked away into its own quiet and peaceful corner!

It depends on which part of Washington you are thinking about moving to. Eastern Washington is like desert. Dry heat in the Summer, but in the winter the snow can be pretty heavy, at least it was when I was a kid living there. When I was 14 my parents moved to Western Washington (Seattle side of the state). It is more humid over here. This summer has not been that great, at least August hasn't, and this is usually the hottest part of the Summer. In Washington if you drive an hour or two there are beautiful beaches, go an hour or two the other way top skiing lodges, hiking. Seattle is a great mix of people and lots of activities, great schools...some very nice private schools.

Well I doubt there's anyone on here that's been to every city in Washington, so I don't think we'll be able to tell you the BEST city to live in in Washington. I lived in Walla Walla growing up and it's a beautiful small town. I have no idea what jobs are like over there.

Well since I live in washington I could tell you everything!
the weather: It rains a lot. This summer was like rainy days then sunny days. It's basically really cold here. If your into diversity well washington would be a nice place to meet different people. Washington is pretty clean but you will see a couple of rats running here and there. Depends on where you live. I live in Seattle, sometimes I do see rats out on the street. But Washington is like a beautiful place to me!

The best place to live in Washington would be Seattle, because of the amount of jobs, pay. Spokane is also a nice city, drier weather all year.

Well to be honest, if you want to get away from the "big city" and just live in nothing but farm town country, move to Spokane. That's what you'll see. It's a city smack dab in the middle of farm after farm after farm.
not my cup of tea.
Then you cross the moutains to WESTER WA!!! You've got BEAUTIFUL views of the water, the moutains, there are TREES!!!! There are a million places to go camping, fishing, hiking if you're into that stuff.... ORRRR! If you're like me, there are BILLION places to go shopping, neat places to take a Sunday drive, there's baseball, football, friendly people! There is some thing fun to do in each city you visit. There is every thing you want to do! We've got awesome fresh sea food if you're into that! (eastern wa has fresh produce from all the farms, if that's important to you)
AAAAAAAAAAND! Porkland is only 2 hours from Olympia and Oregon is TAX FREE! THere's another perk!!!
Just remember this as a rule of thumb.....
Western WA = Civilization
Eastern WA = Farms

Ive lived in kitsap county Washington all my life and i love it here it rains 30 inches a year most of that is in the fall or winter. its pretty windy all year. i think the best place to live would be silverdale (where I live). its great because its 1 hour, 10 minutes from Seattle which is a great city. all the people come to kitsap county to experience nature and they are coming to the right place. oh and jobs are anything that you can imagine. big ones are coffee, computers, military, real estate, boats, and transportation.
hope you come to live in Kitsap County
