I feel he missed it not going to San Diego, the coach for the Giants stinks.......

Depends. He's not improving in the Giants system. Payton has had the benefit of having the same coach, Tom Moore, since he started playing. He's had to learn one system and it's a system that he's comfortable with and emphasizes his talents. Eli has had the same head coach, but it's Coughlin and he's not known for his offensive coaching ability. And, he's not exactly a nurturing type of coach. Once Coughlin is gone, and it's almost a lock that he will be, I hope they can bring someone in who'll be able to help Eli be something better. Right now I'd bet he's going to have another very rough year.

I agree with you that it was a serious error in judgement not going to San Diego. He would have learned from Cam Cameron and had a pair of great running backs to help him. I still don't understand why he though the Giants were the team for him. I know I'd rather live in sunny California (which I do).

You might have the coach pegged for the Giants, because the guy doesn't know how to adapt, but that doesn't change Eli's being a lousy QB.

Don't get me wrong, the physical potential is there, we have all seen the moments, when he stops thinking, and plays.

The problem with Eli is mental. He is still living in the shadow cast by Daddy and Big Bro, and so he sabotages himself. He was never as good as Peyton ( who is?) and will never be as good. And because he has spent all his life being compared to Peyton, he has developed a complex, and believes he is inferior. If he ever snaps out of it, and just plays the best HE can, than he will someday be good (though he does need a new coach, and some better weapons too).

If he never steps out of the Manning Shadow, he will never be consistant enough to be good.

I personally think unless he improves himself within 2-3 years that he won't be with the Giants anymore. The man just seems very gun shy, and he flinches and panics whenever someone gets too close to him on the field even when it's a member of his own team. Getting over something like that is not something that can really be taught, but something that he has to outgrown on his own.

I think what the Giants need to do is to draft a quarterback with their first round pick next year. Nothing spurns excellence like a bit of competition, and since Eli Manning has pretty much been handed the team without any competition I think he has grown a bit complacent. IAnother younger player vying for his job will force him to improve. Look at the wonders that drafting a Philip Rivers did for the career of Drew Brees when he was still with the Chargers. Eli Manning could use a big heaping dose of that.

I feel is Eli is going to develop he wont be a giant. Unlike Phillips Rivers, Eli ws thrown into the fire when he was a rookie so he took his lumps early but he is not mentally ready to play football right now. If confidence is downwards right now. But i feel his Eli goes to a team with a good O coordinator like Norv Turner or Al Saunders, he will be ok. If he had half of the talent his older brother has he would be ok. But Eli will get better so i will give him 2 more years with another team and he will be a Pro Bowler.

if He is not there by the fourth season, He will be gone. I'm not particularly fond of Coughlin either but, they did make the playoffs last year and, before all the injuries, started the season 6-2. still, it seems kind of funny that the GIANTS extended His contract for one season just after Bill Cowher announced that He was taking one year off from coaching.

As a Giants fan, I gotta hope it will happen soon. However I think they screwed themselves by giving up all those draft picks to have Eli over Rivers. One of those draft picks, of course, became San Diego's pick of Shawne Merriman.

As long as Tom Coughlin is his coach, it's a moot point, 'cause it'll never happen. The only thing that suprises me more than Tom Coughlin still coaching the Giants is Matt Millen still being the GM in Detroit.

I do not think he has the potential.I thought the Giants were getting the bad end of the deal in the first place.San Diego came out way ahead getting Rivers.

In my opinion he has to be good this year...and anyways, Eli is a good QB for his age...it's just that so many people compare him with his brother who has been in the NFL longer and, in my opinion, a better QB...If you want him to play at his brother's level...give him 2 years, counting this season and if he doesn't reach that level by then, eh...just leave the guy alone lol...
