the only blame i put on the toy companies is not being so specific as to remind china NOT to use lead paint in the toys china makes for the company. fisher price and mattel used to have plants in america, thats when economy was good and there was more money being circulated in our country, not being put somewhere else. do you know how many JOBS are being lost in the US each day because facotories are outsourcing to china? and what does china get? a net worth thats wayyy more than the US right now...and treat their workers like dirt?? first it was lettuce, then pet food, then human food, then tooth paste, now childrens toys.....china is makeing them. its not the companies fault they made a recall list!

so to answer your question. our economy would BOOM. more jobs, more money, less welfare, less taxes... itd be nice. and its not like we reap the benefits from having stuff made in china. its the same we paid for it when it was made in the usa.... the companies just get more profit..

I agree. There is nothing in the marketplace made in China that is essential to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

Buy secondhand on eBay, from thrift shops, and out of the classifieds for your 'junk' purchases. The old stuff was better made and is now cheaper, anyway.

Buy food at the farmers' markets, get Tom's of Maine toothpaste from Trader Joe's, etc.

C'mon, folks, I've been doing it for years! It's not that hard!!!

Excellent question. I agree, we should boycott goods from China. The problem our law makers have in doing so, China is threatening to flood the stock market with billions of American dollars, they are holding. It would plummet the Dollar to an all time low and may cause great economic hardship for many people. China is a real threat and we need to remember that when we purchase anything.

I have allready started to boycott all goods from all Southeastern countries including Mexico.

It takes me more time now and when I started it took a lot of time. I called many of the companies that we buy from, their consumers department, and, found out where the material in the products come from, the foods, where they come from.
We had to start forgetting some of our favorite foods because they come from the Southeastern countries. I want "made in the U.S." products only. and, to add, union made. I may pay more but I want my safety and welfare.

OMG you are soooooooooo wrong. Sorry, but you are. Don't blame China, blame the toy company that has to make all these recalls! It is the US's fault as much as it is China's. Most of the USA's best products are from China. If we delete China, then what will happen to our economy?

Clearly you have no idea what you are talking about . . . part of our trade agreement with China is that America, whether it is the government of a specific corporation, is responsible for quality control.
