I snipped the tip, loaded it and squeezed and the silicon caulk squirted out the bottom. Do I have to poke a hole too? How do I do this?

Thanks everyone. Unfortunately (for me) this stupid caulk has no foil for me to poke through. No, it has hard plastic. I give up. I am going to have my brother help me next time he is over. ;)

This tube is already shot. The caulking gun should have a hole in the handle to snip off the tip. Many (but not all) also have a thin metal rod for poking a hole through the seal. It IS there, I promise. If your gun does not have one of these, you can use a coat hanger or anything long enough to reach to the bottom of the nozzle, and small enough to fit inside.
GOOD LUCK :)

Most caulk has a foil inside and yes you do have to poke it just take a long nail, piece of wire or anything that will fit in the hole and poke it a couple times to break the foil. After that it will pump out as long as the caulk is still good.

1st squeeze the can of caulk by hand. If it feels soft and squish then you know it is good and not dried up.
Put the canister into a caulk gun and cut the tip off at a 45 degree angle and "some" not all caulk canisters require you to insert a long nail to break open the seal inside the tube. That is probably the problem you are having.
Now you are set to go...
Good Luck.

That's why you buy the caulk gun with the long metal thing under the tip, so that you have something to poke into the tube and get it open for you. Anything will do put every nail I find is not long enough and I have sacrified countless screwers.

Yes, poke the hole too. There is a plastic seal that you can barely see. Just take a screwdriver or something long to do it. It's really easy...I am a girl and had to do it yesterday.

I'd try screwing off the tip, if it does screw off, and see if there is a seal on the tube itself.
