Is Texas prepared for hurricane Dean ?

I feel for you guys -

The US seems to have had more than it's fair share of natural disasters as of late -

The coast is prepared, but if all reports are correct Texas won't see Dean at all except for maybe some rain from way out outer bands if that even.

Texas was well prepared for hurricanes last year, too. This year they have been assessing who will need buses to evacuate and the buses are arranged, etc. I hope people will take the evacuation orders seriously now, not like New Orleans.

Sure we're ready, we're Texans. This is the Lone Star state of rugged individualists. At least for those that are native Texans. Can't tell about all the recent out-of-staters though. Takes a couple of years to get 'em broke in.

Back to your question. Look how we pulled New Orleans butt out of a sling.

We just had an 8.46 inch rain in 7 hours that flooded the heck out of us. One day later and we're back to normal, except for a couple of dumbasses who tried to drive through low water crossings.They're probably stuck on a fence downstream some where. We'll find them sooner or later.

I won't be back here so all you guys who don't like Texans who are going to take a shot at me might just as well hold your bile because I won't be seeing it.

not enough

it is next to impossible to get some people to take a hurricane seriously until it is too late. evacuation has to start days earlier ... we simply do not have enough roads given the way we wait and wait. [Houston proved that two years ago.]

of course, I'm sitting here in So. Florida and we have even fewer roads ...
