When I was playing as a kid, it was the great depression. We had no tv or computers, they had broomsticks for bats and a rubber ball for a great game of stickball, played like baseball. A piece of chalk was used to sketch out games like potsy and skelly where the pieces were bottle tops. Marbles were another favorite as were games such as hide and seek and ringaleevio. You may have noticed there was not much expense involved. PS This was in Brooklyn, and in the street.

When I was a kid, I used to play in the back yard. We had a long driveway and a small patch of grass that was a "backyard" and I would play back there. I was a tomboyish-type girl, so, I used to play with my cousin and the boy next door and we would see who could find the biggest worms!
We would get all muddy and messy. Man, that was fun. what was even better was that his grandfather had a car and it was no longer working. We would go in the car and pretend we were in a race! So, I played in the backyard as a child all the time.

I played mostly outside. Today's kids spend way too much time inside because of video games and the internet. And that's why childhood obesity is on the rise.

I was always outside. Every single day. You are right. Now kids don't seem to play outside like we did.

We played outside and yes they spend way to much time indoors on their games or in front of the TV, that's why we have so many unhealthy children.

I did both. Some days I'd be climbing trees, other days I'd be playing with Legos.
