Unlike earthquakes, we know when tornadoes are coming as there is typically plenty of warning OR you are aware that the conditions exist for one to occur (and take cover). There are more tornadoes in Oklahoma and western Kansas than have ever hit Kansas City, MO (although one could argue that a tornado needs to hit the KCMO School Board... LOL).
Kansas City is a very cosmopolitan city with roughly 2 million people in the metro. There are plenty of art galleries, museums, professional sports teams (football, Nascar, baseball), good shopping, and hills and valleys. Our visitors from the west/east coasts are always surprised when they come here and find culture, plenty of restaurants, a reasonable cost of living, and friendly people.

I live on the Kansas side, but not in KCK. I live in the Johnson County suburbs. Do you have children? Check out school districts. Where do you work? Figure out routes to work.....it seems today that most are under construction. I would pick the Kansas Side (obviously) because there is less crime, better schools, better roads.....all of that stuff. You also need to realize that if you live in Kansas, but work on the Missouri side, you still pay city earnings tax and income tax to both Kansas and Missouri. I have family in central Arkansas. They love it, until summer, where it is even more uncomfortable than Kansas City.

Yup, that's why there is nobody ther anymore. We all got sucked up to Indiana.
I live in Oklahoma actually and we get more tornados than the KC area. Yeah Missouri gets a lot of tornados but I don't worry about them.
As for what it is like. A large city with everything you would expect. Grat Blues Clubs. Bar-B-Que, dining of all kinds. Opera, ballet. Like I said everything a very large city can be expected to have.

While going to college at Mizzou I met many, many good friends from KC. And I never heard any stories about anyone they knew in KC being killed by tornadoes. As far as they city itself, I think it's awesome. The best BBQ I've ever had in my life. There's plenty to do and they have a decent NFL team(just try not to think about the Royals). KC does have its fair share of crime, but then again, what large metropolitan area doesn't?

No. There seem to be more tornadoes in Oklahoma and in the South (Kansas City is close, but isn't in the South).

Not true at all. With tornadoes we get plenty of warning to get to a safe place. I would rather dodge a tornado than hurricane .
