I'm looking for a car alternative for living in London city, and C1 seems like a good option. But I'm worried about looking cool as a 30 year old guy with this type of vehicle.

BMW C1 (scooter with roof) - Cool or Un-cool??

They stopped making them becaue they were expensive and not great sellers. Even in Germany they were thought pretty un-cool and that is not exactly the most chic motorcycling part of the world.

However why are you bothered what other people think? If you want one, get one. They were not a bad concept at all, keep the weather off and if you fall over you don't get hurt as long as you keep hands and arms inside the machine. They make a lot of sense in a place like London I would have thought, especially as an every day transport.

The whole cool thing is a piece of nonsense anyway. It's like people who spend 150,000 quid on a car because they think that people notice them, are wowed because they are so cool. No one gives a monkeys and 2 seconds after seeing the car everyone has completely forgotten about it. In summary if the bike works for you then get it and be an individual - that is what motorcycling (in all it's forms) is all about.

EDIT - Muddy below - real bikers do not mock anyone on a powered two wheeler.

My neighbour had one, he let me take it round the block. I just went to the end of the road and came straight back. They are shockingly bad, and bloody dangerous. I can't see how you'd fall off and not lose all 4 limbs, and filtering is nigh on impossible due to the width and weight of the thing. You'd be better off on a C90 or a 'ped. If you want weather protection get a umbrella/car/bus/train basically anything other than a C1

Used one for 5 years. Cannot recommend it enough. Yes a bit goofy, but all year round bike, arrive in comfort and almost dry every time. Not a bike, but a two wheeled car.

Kinda dorky looking, but on my list of something I'd like to try driving some time. If it is enough to keep you from getting drenched in a storm, I'd say "cool", but I don't think it would help that much if it's raining hard.

in the awesome stakes getting the bis is a safer bet or even taking a pogo stick to work if you are after a bit of independence but not the c1

No such thing as cool and uncool. Its just an illusion planted in your head by people who want to sell you things.
Do whatever you want - nobody will notice or care.

From the moment you own it prepare yourself for ridicule from car drivers and most of all from bikers! At the very least you'll get a "what the hell?" raised eyebrow!! Hang your head in shame for even considering it!!
Get a proper bike and waterproofs or take the bus!!
