I am scheduled to fly to Barcelona TOMORROW morning with a one way ticket. I asked about 10 people prior to booking the flight and they all said they didn't have a problem flying to Europe with a one way ticket. Today, I called for seat assignments and the airline agent asked me about my return flight. When I told her I don't have one she said it was a bad idea.

Can anyone tell me if you've encountered problems flying into Spain with a one way ticket within the past 6 months? If I do need proof of return, I could just print out an itinerary without actually confirming and paying for it. Would they know the difference? I'm leaving in the morning and I'm really nervous now.

Thanks in advance for any advice!

Depends on which nationality you are.European Union: no problem. Otherwise: The suggested proofs should be enough for immigration. I never was asked for anything, not even during the dictaturship.

I would book a reservation and print it out. You do not have to have paid for it . They do not have time to check out all the payment information. If you should be questioned , just answer yes, you have booked a return ticket, which you have. If the paid reservation comes up , I would just say you booked a tentataive one , you are not sure exactly what day you want to go home and you want to get the best airfare possible and not have to incur change fees.

They are trying to make sure that people go home after a visit. Having six months validity in your passport is the key thing. The would greatly prefer that each person also have a guaranteed return airfare home but if you don't have it , they will probably assume the risk.

attempt flying in/out of Barcelona employing the Barcelona airport. that's IN Barcelona. Girona is an hour away. uncertain the place Rues is. If those are you options, i'm guessing possibly those low fee airlines are not the kind of competent deal. The code for Barcelona is BCN.

Take proof of money with you, a copy of a current bank slip will do if you have enough in your account. And bring a credit card.

I have never been asked to show my return ticket at any border control, but it is a law that you need one.

And if you do not want to scam with plane tickets, see the other answer, print out several train and bus schedules out of the country, like one to Paris and one to the South coast of France and tell them, if asked, you want to travel Europe but have not decided yet on how. (Which is true, I am sure you would like to see the rest of Europe one day.)
