Of course no one "knows" that, because it is false.

There is no planetary alignment. There are stories about a terrible disaster (all of them created by cranks).

December 21 2012 is the last day of the present "Long Count" in the Mayan calendar. It is somewhat equivalent to December 31 1999 in our calendar (remember? that is the day all the computers blew up and we all died).

The Mayan calendar is based on the date of the December solstice (the date each year when the Sun's declination is the most southerly). It is the date on which the day is shortest in the Northern Hemisphere.

The Long Count was establish so that it would end when the position of the Solstice (which goes around in a 25,800 year cycle) is closest to the direction of the centre of the Galaxy. (That is a surprising fact, telling us that Mayans knew about precession).

This happens every 25,800 years. The Sun will not explode, the Galactic black hole will not jump out and bite us, but you PC may crash (but then, they always do).

Unfortunately, you will hear more and more disaster stories as we get closer to that date.

Seems now that every time there is a change dealing with dates, someone predicts the end of the world. The last one was in March 2007 with the new date of daylight saving time (planes were going to crash and telephone service was going to be interupted).

What will happen on December 22, 2012? It will be the first day of the new Long Count.
Happy Long Count to all!
I expect a gift.

What will happen on December 21st in 2012 is the sun will rise, cross the sky like it always does, then set. Beyond that certainty no one knows what will happen.

One thing that *won't* happen is the world won't end. The alignment you mention isn't a planetary one but instead the sun will be aligned with the center of our galaxy, something that last happened about 26,000 years ago. The world didn't end then either.

A few greedy writers out to make a buck have tried to tie that alignment with the end of the Mayan calendar and claimed that the Mayans were predicting the end of the world. It's true that the ancient Mayan calendar ends in 2012 just when the alignment occurs, but it takes a huge stretch of the imagination to see that as a prediction of the end of the world. The Mayans didn't have a perpetual calendar like we do, but a series of them, each ending when a particular event occurred that was important to them. Nothing to do with any cataclysm.

Finally, none of the books about the end of the world in 2012 provide even the slightest bit of scientific evidence in support. One writer just says, "whatever energy typically streams to Earth from the center of the Milky Way will indeed be disrupted on 12/21/12 at 11:11 p.m. Universal Time."

And there are terrible disasters every year, aren't there?
The tsunami a few years ago was a disaster, so was Hurricane Katrina, the Los Angeles earthquake, the list goes on and on.

If people just read more about the Mayan calendar everyone is so quick to quote from... Supposedly that is the date when the current world cycle ends and a new one begins. Every ancient culture has a calendar of world "ages" or "cycles" or whatever.

People have been pointing to this date as some kind of terrible Apocolypse (to add to the ever-growing pile of Apocolypse dates). It seems to be rooted around the end of the Mesoamerican Long Count calendar, which according to Mayan belief will result in the tranisition from "one Creation to the next". To the best of my knowledge there is no significant planetary event due for the 21st of December 2012.

"planet x nibiru" it fairly is a very new one on me. there isn't something to those stupid December twenty first issues. it began with the aid of fact the Mayan calendar ends on December twenty first, 2012, and somebody suggested "Huh, i ask your self what the Mayans knew that we don't." Panic ensued. indexed below are 3 significant info correct to the Mayan calendar. a million - It ends on December 21, 2012. Our calendar ends on December thirty first, each 365 days. the tip of the calendar does not advise the tip of the worldwide. 2 - The Mayans have been killed via ailments for which that they had no immunity that have been delivered via Spanish explorers. you will think of that in the event that they knew the tip of the worldwide replaced into coming, that they had additionally be waiting to work out their very own dying and handle it. 3 - The Mayans did not have leap 365 days. We do. which skill each 4 years we've an further day that the Mayan's did not. leap 365 days began in 1752, or 260 years in the past. with the aid of fact that we upload an afternoon each 4 years, that's 260 divided via 4, which provides us sixty 5 extra advantageous days in our calendar that the Mayans did not have. consequently, the Mayan calendar would not fairly end on December twenty first. It ends on December twenty first, minus sixty 5 days, or October seventeenth. consequently, the Mayan calendar fairly ended on October seventeenth, and if the worldwide replaced into meant to end then, some thing went badly incorrect. Get some sleep. end worrying.

What will happen on 12/21/12? I am going to be making a lot of money, cashing in on bets that I made with dupes who believed in that spiritual mumbo jumbo that something significant was going to happen on that date.

I only wish I could have done that for 1/1/2000, when all those religious whackjobs were convinced that the second coming of Jesus was nigh. Man, the look on the face of those blubbering idiots like John Hagee would have been priceless.

John Hagee, for those of you fortunate enough to not know, is a TV evangelist who made an absurd amount of money convincing people that the rapture would occur on the stroke of midnight, January 1, 2000. He's still around, still convincing the same group of idiots to shower him with money, while he still spews his same doom and gloom nonesense. I only wish I had been there to have him put his money where his mouth is.

What i am going to tell you now is more important that is" What is so special about the Mayan Calendar? "
"The person with no previous exposure to the Mayan Calendar will usually initially be surprised by the fact that some people today take such an interest in an ancient calendar. After all, human history has seen a high number of different calendars. Is not then the Mayan calendar just a very specialized subject of interest only to specialists or history buffs? “Why would the world today need another calendar than the Gregorian or Muslim that are currently in use, and why should this be the Mayan calendar?” some may ask.

By Carl Johan Calleman

Well, to begin with most people probably have a much too limited view of the importance of the Mayan civilization, and Native American traditions generally. In fact, at their height in the 5th to 9th centuries AD, the Mayan cities would be among the largest in the world and developed the most advanced mathematics and astronomy of their day. And so, even if the Native American civilizations hardly survived the later contact with the Europeans they were and are the carriers of a significant and irreplaceable part of the global human consciousness.

When we talk about the Mayan Calendar something profoundly different is also meant than just a system to mark off the passage of time. The Mayan Calendar is above all a prophetic calendar that may help us understand the past and foresee the future. It is a calendar of the Ages that describes how the progression of Heavens and Underworlds condition the human consciousness and thus the frames for our thoughts and actions within a given Age. The Mayan Calendar provides an exact schedule for the Cosmic Plan and the unfolding of all things that come into existence. There is now ample empirical evidence for this, something that shines new light on the age old questions of mankind. Things do exist for a reason. The reason is that they fit into the divine cosmic plan. For those that seriously engage in a study of the Mayan Calendar this soon becomes evident and the former materialist world view loses all relevance. The Mayan Calendar is a gateway to the worlds of consciousness which the majority of humanity has been blinded to through the use of false or delusory calendars.

Since everything that exists is an aspect of consciousness, and the Mayan Calendar describes the evolution of consciousness in all of its aspects, no stone is left unturned for the serious student of the Mayan Calendar. All of science is affected, all of religion is affected, all of life is affected. We are here for a reason. Time is no longer equated with money, but with spirit. Time is inspiration!

2012 in brief

The Mayan civilization of Central America was and is the most advanced in relation to time-science knowledge. Their main calendar is the most accurate on the planet. It has never erred. The Mayan fifth world finished in 1987. The sixth world starts in 2012. So we are currently "between worlds"

1. Humanity and Planet Earth are currently going through a huge change or shift in consciousness and reality perception.

2. The Mayan civilization of Central America was and is the most advanced in relation to time-science knowledge. Their main calendar is the most accurate on the planet. It has never erred. They actually have 22 calendars in total, covering the many timing cycles in the Universe and Solar System. Some of these calendars are yet to be revealed.

3. The Mayan fifth world finished in 1987. The sixth world starts in 2012. So we are currently "between worlds". This time is called the "Apocalypse" or revealing. This means the real truth will be revealed. It is also the time for us to work through "our stuff" individually and collectively.

4. The Mayan sixth world is actually blank. This means it is up to us, as co-creators, to start creating the new world and civilization we want now.

5. The Mayans also say that by 2012

we will have gone beyond technology as we know it.
we will have gone beyond time and money.
we will have entered the fifth dimension after passing through the fourth dimension
Planet Earth and the Solar System will come into galactic synchronization with the rest of the Universe.
Our DNA will be "upgraded" (or reprogrammed) from the centre of our galaxy. (Hunab Ku)
Everybody on this planet is mutating. Some are more conscious of it than others. But everyone is doing it.

6. In 2012 the plane of our Solar System will line up exactly with the plane of our Galaxy, the Milky Way. This cycle has taken 26,000 years to complete. Virgil Armstrong also says that two other galaxies will line up with ours at the same time. A cosmic event!

7. Time is speeding up (or collapsing). For thousands of years the Schumann Resonance or pulse (heartbeat) of Earth has been 7.83 cycles per second, The military have used this as a very reliable reference. However, since 1980 this resonance has been slowly rising. It is now over 12 cycles per second! This means there is the equivalent of less than 16 hours per day instead of the old 24 hours.

8. During the Apocalypse or the time "between worlds" many people will be going through many personal changes. The changes will be many and varied. It is all part of what we came here to learn or experience. Examples of change could be- relationships coming to an end, change of residence or location, change of job or work, shift in attitude or thinking etc."

What is so special about the Mayan Calendar?
http://enlightenment.en.funpic.de/index.php

Pacal Votan's prophetic call is alerting present-day humanity that our biological process is transforming, approaching the culmination of a 26,000 year evolutionary program. Bringing the return of universal telepathy, heightened sense capacity, and self-reflective consciousness, this is a return to the sacred domain of our inner technology.

This grand cycle of evolution will culminate winter solstice, December 21, 2012 AD.

This time we are now in has been called "The Time of Trial on Earth," "Judgement Day," "The Time of Great Purification," "The End of this Creation," "The Quickening," "The End of Time as We Know It," "The Shift of the Ages." It is foretold that the completion of the Precession brings regeneration of Earth, offering awakening to all open, willing hearts. Many peoples spoke of these last days of the Great Cycle, including the: Maya, Hopi, Egyptians, Kabbalists, Essenes, Qero elders of Peru, Navajo, Cherokee, Apache, Iroquois confederacy, Dogon Tribe, and Aborigines.

I went to the Dec 21 2012 website. I note that it is nothing more than an attempt to make money by conning gullible people who know nothing about science and are too lazy to think on their own.
