Oh my goodness.
That is definantly not good for the fish, and probably against school rules.

I would anonymously drop the principal or a teacher a note telling them about the situation and what locker it is. You don't have to leave your name if you don't want to.

If you know her (a friend or anything) DEFINANTLY talk to her. This is definantly not okay, and that poor fish is suffering.

Sadly, I doubt that there is going to be too much you can do. I would suggest printing as much research as possible about why keeping goldfish in a bowl is bad and giving it to her, not confrontationally, but as understanding and helpful as possible. You can report her, to the principal, if you can handle the "squealer" label. Maybe they have some sort of rule about keeping pets in lockers. Also, to animal control for abuse, but I doubt that anything would be done about it, because, in America, there are no laws against fish in bowls like in Europe. Few people have yet to acknowledge fish as a pet worth protecting. It's sad that we have to stand back and allow people to be cruel to animals, but sometimes, there just isn't anything we can do, especially when it comes to fish.

vegitable flakes are fine for goldfish
even though the fish is getting rather large for the gallon fish bowl, I don't see that it has much worse a life then some of the other goldfish and most of the betta's out there.........also you may feel that she isn't taking very good care of the fish, but what do you think you can do?

Mention it to her if you'd like
Offer to take the fish home yourself on the week-ends and buy a bigger bowl.......buy a variety of food if you wish......
maybe she'll let you "fish sit" if she is your friend
I think she'll probably tell you to MYOB

good luck..........

Hi Kelly-thanks for caring, you might try showing her this link-if she has a conscience she may respond favourably & of course it would be in the fishes best interest if you reported the matter to the principal.
