Honestly there is nothing to be afraid of. Yes the Mayan calendar ends in 2012, but to them it wasnt the end of the world but a new beginning..a new phase. And so they say our world will be different, but its up to us to establish how hard or easy it will actually be and how to survive it. Here is a site that i came across that might actually shed some light and for gods sake people it is NOT doomsday..its all about a galaxy alingment...http://www.adishakti.org/mayan_end_times_prophecy_12-21-2012.htm.. and keep scrolling down. If anyone would like to discuss please feel free:)

If they could predict the future so well, how come they didn't foresee their extinction and do something to prevent it?
There have already been so many "doomsdays" that have been predicted by supposed prophets, yet they have come and gone without incident (obviously, unless we all missed something).
I don't believe the Mayans or anyone has predicted when the final days of the human race will come. Technically, it could be any day now. There's plenty of threats from our fellow man (there are enough nuclear weapons in the world to kill the entire population more than once), there's the threat of biological warfare, there's the threat of an asteroid hitting the earth...etc...etc. It could happen tomorrow, it could happen next year, it could happen on 12-21-2012. No one will know for sure though until that day comes.

The words below were sent to me in September 87.
None of the 2012 stuff is new.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Something important, some people think, is going to happen on August 16 or 17 or 22, 1987.
What happens AFTER August 22, 1988?
After August 22nd, armored white men suddenly appear on our shores and take over in the name of the King of Spain!
Actually, that date is August 16 17, 1987! and it is referred to as the Harmonic Convergence, 25 years before the end of the long cycle chronicled by the Mayan calendar. The Harmonic Convergence is to usher in a 25-year period of increasing harmony and cooperation among people and between people and the rest of planetary life. the fact that the Mayan calendar period ends in 2012 does not mean Apocalpse, as I understand it, but rather the end of a long evolutionary cycle that we've been in for a very long time.
To really get into the nitty-gritty of this, check out Jose Arguelles' The Mayan Factor, just published by Bear & Co., Santa Fe. Available in bookstores.

I've heard two theories about what the end of the Mayan calendar portends.
1 - Another asteroid like the dinosaur killer.
2 - The return of Planet X. Planet X is supposed to harbor an extremely intelligent race of beings. We are their "experiment". They did gene research and combined their own DNA with monkey DNA and came up with humanoids. They have visited a few times and tweaked their experiment as they passed by. This time they will realize that the experiment has failed and flush us down the proverbial toilet.
conundrum - now that Pluto has been demoted to a planetoid, can we still call our wandering planet by Planet X? Or do we need to rename it as well? Maybe the scientists Will decide it is not a planet as well. Oh, no. Maybe that's why they destroy us, because we demoted their home too!!!

The fearmongering for rankings is disgusting. they save asserting the calendar ends, while it does not, and that they save attempting to guess what the Mayans have been attempting to assert by skill of ending it. They weren't asserting something! They weren't widely used for prophecy, in simple terms astronomy and arithmetic. there became a small "fortune cookie" prophecy for all of the katuns interior the long count type calendar, and the only for katun 4, that's the only ending, is the return of Kukulcan, one in each of their gods. (that's quite katun 13 you want to computer screen out for, yet that's over 40 years away.) additionally, they are able to't understand each thing that the Mayans have been thinking or engaged on simply by fact the Conquistadors burned the codices. in basic terms 4 of them survived out of 1000's. there is not any way you could piece jointly the psychological historic previous of a civilization with in basic terms a fragment of their written works. that's like in case you burn the Encyclopedia Brittanica and in basic terms had fragments left that coated the 2nd replace, Julia youngster's French cooking, splitting the atom, and porn interior the 80s to paintings with you paintings out what our way of existence became like. what number memories are you able to come back up with for that?

Since we can't ask the Mayans exactly what they meant we can only speculate.
Personally I think their astrologers only got as far as 2012 - that was a plenty long way off when they were making their calendar. Had they not disappeared they would have extended it.

2012? the world ends? Bummer I'm still hoping it comes sooner. In the end humans survive and we live on rebuilding this world over again and HOPEFULLY mankind learns from its mistakes.
