Yes. Until 18 months ago, I owned a 900 sq. ft. house in East Hartford, CT that dated to the early 1910's. There was an entity that was entirely welcoming to the house, was seen as a "shadow or corner person" from time to time, and was always accompanied by the smell of pipe smoke.
I have been in others as well.

That is kinda like a haunted trailer. I suppose that's one of the reasons that when i was a kid I was never afraid of ghosts because we live in a modern house about that size and I figured ghosts haunted much nicer digs. With central heat and no chimney I never really believed that story about my mom leaving the back door unlocked for Santa. Oh well I suppose that's one of the trade-offs or maybe I should say advantages of living the the modern world.

My husband and I have bought and sold homes several times so my answer is based on my experience only. Before we put our house on the market we made sure everything was spotlessly clean....touched up paint, cleaned carpets and floors, cleaned out closests and drawers to get rid of extra junk and to increase the appearance of storage space. We washed all the windows inside and out. We made sure that the outside landscaping was in good shape and planted flowers for color. We cleared off kitchen cabinets, put away family pictures...anything to make it appear more spacious. Something as simple as getting a new door mat can make a difference. We always sold our houses very quickly. I know from experience when LOOKING for homes, nothing turned me off more than a dirty, cluttered home. It needs to smell good and look as if I could move right in. I'm not talking about style differences...I mean opening a closet door and things fall out, stains on the floor, dirty windows etc. If someone walks into a home that is cluttered, they can't see beyond that to see what the house might offer. I'm in no way suggesting your house isn't clean. It is just that when your house is on the market you sometimes have to look at it as if you'd never seen it before. Look in all the nooks and crannies and fix up anything you can. A lot of elbow grease and a little money can sometimes really pay off.

Never heard of a haunted condo. You bring up a good point here. Ghosts apparently only haunt old, spooky looking places. They are more likely to be famous too. They only haunt at night. Basically haunted houses fit nicely into our idea of what is spooky--the unknown and the unexplainable.

Nope, it really doesn't matter how big a location is. As long as the ghost has some sort of attachment to the place, it can be haunted.

the reason haunted houses tend to be the big ones, is that they don't bulldoze the big ones if it can simply be renovate and sold at a handsome price. where as the cheap haunted houses are simply burnt down and replaced with bigger newer models, rendering the spirits homeless.
it's just economics. plus the nature of the inhabitants may play a factor, as rich folks may have more reasons to haunt their homes after death as their final destination isn't to comforting (Hell). And most poor folk wont hang onto their meager possessions, even after death. nor have they committed any serious atrocities to become rich so they die with a clear conscience.

In certain places in Africa, the traditional religions have "House of God" where they keep their ancestor's skulls. While they wouldn't be considered "haunted", they would be considered "Hallow" and visited by "Ghosts". They are the size of a dog house, and usually by the main gate. Most people wouldn't know unless told.
The Chinese believe (traditionally) that their ancestors are always with them, so all houses are somewhat "haunted" and it's important to please your ancestors with offerings of food and incense.
As for America, Most haunted houses are typically regular, at least the Houses. There are many haunted theatres, churches, and dorms, all big building. Everyone thinks my Dad's house is haunted, which is fairly large and complex. It's mostly cause of all the odd mirrors that cause illusions.

It doesn't matter what size, ghost go where ever they were when they died if they haven't fulfilled their destiny. Usually ghosts are around because they have unfinished business to do or they haven't been laid to rest. If you want to learn more about ghosts watch, the show "Ghost Hunters" on the SciFi channel.
