Can i get sued if i made a same website name as someone else but a different domain?

example: if i made a site www.games.com and if someone had a site www.games.ca , could they sue me?

no way. whoever told you that is jus trying to scare you. there are plenty of websites similar to yours. You can however be sued if you use/copy information from that website without their permission. If you didn't do that, your golden.

They can sue for whatever reason they want -- you just gotta detemine whether you're willing to spend the $$$ to fight it. Also, beware that some names are trademarked and they will win those cases causing you to forfeit your domain.

In the USA, anyone can sue anyone else for any reason, but it doesn't mean they can win. different domain is not infringement of any kind of rights.

No. They can really only sue you if you use their copywrited images and content.
