Sobriety means behaving in a serious, well-mannered, genteel way while soberness is the state of being free of the influence of alcohol. The effects of each state are similar, but I don't think anyone would say that this similarity could be called important.

Sobriety is a general feeling of good health. Soberness is what you wake up to after being drunk.

They are both the same; just a different way of expressing the state of being. Neither of them apply to me, or any other person who does not rely on alcohol for mood enhancement.
