It's for a store and we'll probably hook it up to a regular desktop. I'm looking for one that you would be able to view from home via DSL. In addition, a program that would save the video onto the desktop at the store, with the date and time. And would only activate when it detects motion.

I have read about many different systems at http://www.pcworld.com look in the product testing section. they test and rate about any thing related to use with PCs and security. then you can decide for your self with one is best for your store. good luck.

Take a look at http://www.supercircuits.com

There are a number of companies that sell video surveillance systems on line but Supercircuits is one of the more well established companies and they have a very wide range of product offerings.

They should be able to sell you the components to accomplish what you want to do.

I recommend buying IP cameras -- they interface with your existing internet and allow you to control and view them remotely.
