I would Have to say...
Amy Lee Of Evanescence.

Just because her voice is very beautiful, and haunting at times. she's pretty and very talented. Her writting style is also beautiful, her lyrics no matter how strange they can be are still really well written. Just wonderful, the older stuff is alot better then the open door or even fallen, but all in all it's all great.

1st- Amy Lee (Evanescence) 'cause she Rocks! and she's so Hot! and so Gorgeous! She's got one of the greatest voices in history, she's a very talented writer (deep, dark, and haunting), and did I mention that she is just so beautiful!!!
2nd- Stevie Nicks! Rock's "Hippie Princess." She's such a huge part of the history of Rock 'n Roll. I love her voice and how she writes (however obscure it may be).
3rd- Siouxsie Sioux (Siouxsie & The Banshees) or Shirley Manson (Garbage) or Dolores O'riordon (The Cranberries) or Courtney Love (Hole) or Cyndi Lauper... Love all of them!!! Probably pick Siouxsie because she's the female version of Robert Smith (The Cure). Excellent and very cerebrial writer, deep, and dark...
Let me add that I quite like the answer from 'limestoner62'

Polly Jean (PJ) Harvey. I've admired her for a long time and honestly, she motivated me to play guitar when I was younger.

I really like that she doesn't "dress up" to be in rock music - for me, that shows far more originality and independent thought than a lot of bands on TV and radio today.

Natasha Bedingfield Amazing voice, amazing look and amazing songs. She's a great songwriter, sexy as all get out and has a set of pipes any woman would envy. Check out my favorite video on YouTube, her website, and her biography. She's who I'd want to be today.

If we were talking favorite of all time, I'd have to pick Aretha Franklin. She's an amazing woman and I've always wanted to sing with as much soul as she does. She's been an icon for decades and even sang one of the most popular love songs ever in the US. ( link below), and don't forget to check her other major hit "R E S P E C T". Wow, what I would give to have the career she has had!!

- Hayley Williams (Paramore), Gwen Stefani (No Doubt), Maja (The Sounds), Shirley Manson (Garbage) or Cassandra Ford (Vincent Black Shadow): Because they all are amazingly talented and can rock in a male-dominated band.

- Courtney Love (Hole), Amanda Palmer (The Dredsen Dolls), or Deborah Harry (Blondie): Because they can do whatever the f*** the want.

- Liz Phair: Because she sings her heart out.

- Linda Perry: Because she's a musical genius.

There can only be one answer for me and that is Janis Joplin. She had an innate talent to convey powerful emotion through heart-stomping rock-and-roll singing. I would love to be able to express my emotions like she did through her singing.

Either Angela Gossow from Arch Enemy because her voice is awesome and I love Arch Enemy, or Amy Lee from Evanescence because her lyrics combined with her voice make you feel.

Probably Amy Lee... I don't think she has the best voice out there, and a lot of people think she's a brat to her band, but I personally look up to her, because she's talented and a good person.

Pat Benetar - I wasn't born during her actual "reign" in the music world, but I absolutely love all of her songs, from the lyrics to the back ground music. She's the best!
