Hi Roz D for Delirious! I am thinking of the late John Candy RIP, for some reasons.... but to your question; when I was a young better looking boy lol, I always took the long way home. Not because I had it bad or anything back home, but I just loved to be on "adventure", ha ha ha, when I was a young man (still am of course, young I mean) I was, and still is, a musician, and as new to the drinking way of life, ha ha ha, I often did not find the way back home at all, ha ha ha. Now a days, I go straight home after what ever, I am always sober when out playing, and I know I got the best woman waiting for me there (if she isn`t with me of course). I guess it just changes over time the thing about taking the long way home. I am a much more home friendly guy now, ten just 10 years ago, funny thing that. Anyway, hope it helped some ha ha ha, peace and love from Norway

Sometimes I take a little detour through the neighborhood in which I grew up. It's not that far out of the way, but my how it's changed! The woods in which we boys built our tree house is now a subdivision and the same goes for the ol' ballpark across the road. And the county airport that us kids used to bike to to enjoy watching the planes come and go along with a candy bar from one of the vending machines has long since been converted into a TV station.
Sometimes I long for those days. But, they are gone forever, just bits and pieces of nostalgia, now.

I used to do that sometimes just to relax after a hard day or if the husband and I were together we'd go the long way to see the scenery. With the price of gas now and the mileage I get, it's not feasible.

Yes sometimes the side roads and little towns are very interesting and much more unique than driving the interstates one can discover a great deal of things about america and have the freedom to explore our wonderful history I always seek out the less traveled road, quiet remote places, and scenic byways

yes

its not that uncommon, most people do it.
walking alone just makes you feel better and nature is around you brings in fresh air and renegrizes you mentally

its a great way to think and its a different feeling than beiong in house

even a drive is the same way with the windows open and the air blowing in your face

even if its with a friend, just walk and reflect

When you live in a rural state, it's always the long way home, I live here, the road goes there.
