The statements are not mutually exclusive. Competition is good for individuals, and groups. It motivates people to do their best, and to try new things. Cooperation is even better in most cases, however there are times when individuals need to push themselves rather than coasting on the efforts of others.

Keep in mind that competition is not about doing your best, it is about being better than someone else. When America was at her peak, who did she compete with?
For an individual both are sometimes needed. Team playing requires cooperation. And competition between teams can improve the individual.

depends on what ur personality is. if u wanna b better than sum dont become friends with them or you will get competetive with them and end up more of an enemy to that person.. if u dont want competition then just become friends
