I have answered this question so many times, I decided to dedicate a web site to answer this question. Here it is:

http://www.life-after-harry-potter.com

Included is a list of only the best sorcery fantasy books, grade reading level, a short review of each book, and a "reader's choice" list of favorite books.

I hope this helps.

I know what you mean buddy. Here are a few authors I'm fond of reading, and some of the books they've written that you might get a kick out of, that are in a similar genre as the Harry Potter series.

J.R.R. Tolkien - The Hobbit, and The Lord of the Rings etc.

Christopher Paolini - The Inheritance series.

David (David and Leigh) Eddings - The Belgariad series (plus the prequels Belgarath the Sorcerer and Polgara the Sorceress), The Malloreon series, The Elenium series, The Tamuli series, The Redemption of Athalus.

They're just some of the few that I like, give 'em a try, you might like them too.

I don't know how old you are but if you are younger...try Louis Sachar, almost anything is pretty good or Ronald Dahl.

If you are older, beyond 16, go to a book store and walk around a bit. Look at the covers and find something that interests you. It shouldn't take long.

If you are looking for books specifically, kind of like Potter, you might want to try R.A. Salvatore's Dark Elf Books or Artemis Fowl series.

Check out Philip Pullman. His most popular books right now are the 'His Dark Materials' series which starts with The Golden Compass. You might also try the 'Inheritance' series by Christopher Paolini. Both are very imaginative authors with very popular books.
