Well, without any specifics, I'll say that it is because people are obvlivious to 99.9% of the other people that are out there. A majority of people act only give them gratification. You can see this particularly when watching the news or TV talk shows aka Dr. Phil etc.

Encouragement, well I will say you just have to be smart about who you surround yourself with. If you surround yourself with quality people, this will be less of an issue. Eliminate the people from you life who bring/drag you down as soon as you can identify them as such and move on and find new people. If you have a good support system, they will help you through whatever it is that is causing you trouble...and if that doesn't help get some chocolate ice cream.

I only have my own experiences to use as words of encouragement for you...hope they help.

In the end, its how you respond to what is happening that makes all the difference. The old saying is, when life hands you lemons, make lemonade. Its one we laugh at, and never believe, but its true. Look at yourself in the mirror, every morning, and smile. You're alive! Its another new day! You made it! That's enough....that's all you can ask for, one more day. Find something beautiful in each day...a child's face, a flower, the sun, and cherish it. Recall that beauty all during the day. Its unique. Do something nice, once for yourself...have that bar of chocolate you normally wouldn't, give yourself five extra minutes to listen to a favorite song....and once for someone else...hold the door open for someone, offer to carry a package, buy a child an ice cream, something, anything, smile at someone and tell them they're doing a good job...Then remember to do it all over again tomorrow. In a little bit, you'll look back on it, and all these little moments of kindness will add up into a big memory of love.

Let the pain go, and collect beauty instead.

Back in the 70s in Oz we had a PM, Malcolm Fraser, who said: Life was not meant to be easy ... it wasn't till a few years later I realised there was another bit to that quote.

"Life is not meant to be easy, my child; but take courage -- it can be delightful." George Bernard Shaw Irish dramatist & socialist

One of the many things we can learn from tough times is how beautiful the nice times are.
Remember that 'this too shall pass' and life is a journey; we only pass this way but once so enjoy it while you can while remembering that when (if) you get old you will have more regrets about things you did not do rather than things you did.

For every hurdle you clear and every problem you solve, you will grow as a person. Look around and you will notice that those who seem to be gifted with an easy life are shallower and have less reserves to rely on when things go wrong. Plenty of people will rely on a belief in karma but that is a crutch build your own strength, do what you need to do then do what you want to do and you will get there.

Without God to lean on and give u strength 4 the day, it's gonna be hard. No one said life was gonna be easy, but if u have Jesus, it makes it a ton easier, knowing this life isn't forever, and someday we'll go to heaven (if He's in our life).

Life is hard, but remember, for every valley u go through, there's gotta be a mountian eventually. In other words, it'll get better. LIfe kinda goes in cycles like that. Just try to focus on the positive and keep on going. U'll make it! :)

That light at the end of the tunnel... is an oncoming train.

Eagles may soar, but weasels don't get sucked into jet engines.

In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and has been widely regarded as a bad move. (Douglas Adams)

Hope those help :)

I often feel as you do...but I'm reading a book right now that is helping me somewhat. It has to do with letting go of your life and believing that wonderful things will happen if you let them. It's a stretch to believe this, I know, but I'm trying to tell myself that life has given me everything I need to be happy, and that if I'm not, it's because I'm getting in my own way. I've read the answers given by others, and they are all terrific and very helpful. I guess we just have to take it one day at a time and know that we can overcome anything unpleasant that comes along.
