Why don't you tell the folks in the Miami Dolphins front office he isn't hurting anyone and see what kind of reaction you get? They gave up plenty of draft picks to get him, and he has spent almost as much time suspended or "retired" as he has playing. And when he's been suspended, they effectively lose a roster spot. Williams is NOT the reason Dave Wannsadt lost his job, though. At least three consecutive seasons, the Dolphins were one of the top teams in the league in the middle of the season before collapsing at the end and failing to even earn a wild card berth. To me, that says there is something wrong with the leadership. All of this happened before Ricky's ganja problem. And note that Wannstadt is now running the Pitt program into the ground. (Worst unplanned trade ever: Pitt sends Dan Marino to the Dolphins; 22 years later the Panthers receive Dave Wannstadt from Miami.)

He'll probably come back. I think he most wanted to go to the Dolphins, but the new coach Cam Cameron said nope. The only team that showed interested in him was the Rams as a backup for Steven Jackson now that Marshall Faulk is for sure gone. He might end up signing with a team like the Raiders in the next couple years, to probably a 1-2 year contract, with not much guerenteed $$$.

He already demonstrated that whatever physical skills he may once have had, he never had the heart of the mental toughness to belong in the League. He has been a "misunderstood indivdual" his whole career.
Some say that it has to do with some disorder or another, but if you can't make the standards (which are unilateral for a reason), then you can't play.
He has already had more chances and sympathy than he deserved.
Cam Cameron summed it up when he said that they didn't want him back, period. (he was a little more eloquent though)

I'm not denying that he isn't a good and tough football player. But the NFL does have a drug policy, plus, I'm not sure if any team would really want to deal with his off-field issues.
So, to answer your question, I think we will not see Ricky Williams comeback only because no team will have him.

Someday when these idiotic marijuana laws are repealed we're all gonna sit back and wonder how in the hell did we ever let the punishment get so far out of proportion to the crime.
So Ricky likes smoking a little dope once in a while .Why make a criminal out of him ? .Let him be.
"So you can see tonight with an illegal smile
It don't cost very much But it lasts a long while
Won't please tell the man I didn't kill anyone
I'm just trying to have me some fun "

he has no fight in him, if he did he wouldn't have failed any of his drug tests. He's a sellout and a waste of great talent, just like Michael Vick, and Pacman Jones, they're all screw-ups
