I'm not saying all conservatives have this belief, this is really for the "big government loving" conservatives,

If our government is soo great, is it impossible for them to lie to us, what do you think? Also anyone can comment if they want.

Open those baby brown eyes and look for yourself:
a) The government has never satisfactorily explained the events in Roswell, New Mexico in 1947, especially to those who were there and witnessed everything;
b) The Warren Commission was a whitewashed, sanitized version of events surround Kennedy's assassination which illogically concluded that JFK was killed by a crazed, lone gunman with better firearms accuracy than most any trained military gunman;
c) There is some speculation that FDR knew about Pearl Harbor in advance, but failed to try and prevent it because he knew it would bring America into World War II;
d) The government lied about 'attacks' on U.S. battleships in the Gulf of Tonkin, which brought us into the Vietnam War;
e) The government lied about the effects of Agent Orange on Vietnam veterans;
f) The government lied about U-2 spy planes flying over the U.S.S.R. until Khrushchev shot one down and displayed it for all the world to see;
g) The Oval Office lied about a third-rate burglary in the Watergate Hotel until two enterprising young reporter dug out the truth, forcing a U.S. President to resign in disgrace;
h) The government lied about 'weapons of mass destruction', which led us into an unconstitutional, illegal, unjustified, immoral 'war' with another sovereign nation that in now way threatened, provoked or attacked the United States;
i) The government lied about 'secret' CIA prisons;
j) The government lied about torture and sexual abuse of 'detainees' until damning photographs were distributed over the Internet;
k) The government has lied about the real reasons we're letting soldiers die in Iraq: it's not about bringing democracy to that nation. It's not about establishing peace in the Middle East. And it's not about defending our nation against 'terrorists' or an 'evil empire'. It's all about OIL and WAR PROFITEERING, so that an handful of wealthy elitists, industrialists and power brokers can become even wealthier and more powerful - at any cost, even the costs of 675,000 Iraqi lives and the lives of 3,700 U.S. soldiers.

Yes they will lie to us. In a misguided attempt to protect us, we are ignorant to the real threats we face, otherwise the economy would fail. Do ANY of us, or the next Presidential candidates have any idea of the info that Bush and his advisors have at their disposal? NO. If we had the same info they have, none of us would leave home. I am not a doom & gloom person, went thru 9/11 in NYC, 80% of you were still asleep while the rest of us tried to call our families elsewhere, give them assurance, while facing the unknown ourselves.
Yes they will lie to us, just as the next wannabe's already are. When they get the facts, Iraq pullout will be just an unkept promise. My son will be on his 14-20th deployment to Iraq or Afghanistan by then. Is he angry? NO. Lost friends in the WTC, parents of friends, believes in the United Sates, what we stand for. Let them all lie. As long as our troops believe, we should too.

Conservatives do not like Big Government, so you should have perhaps directed this to Democrats. Most will only lie to you for national Security reasons. When they are trying to promote a unpopular program its not that they lie to you as much as they don't tell you the whole truth about it. They will spin it to their side of the story. When a politician speaks its important to understand what they really said. Their words and their meanings are generally two different things.

Although Bush is not a true conservative, he did try to get the government out of social security by letting people have a choice to invest their retirement in the stock market. The government has been borrowing against our retirement for years.

Yeah, those "big government conservatives" you're referring to - they really don't exist. They're just hawkish leftists who have fashioned themselves into "neocons".

Real conservatives don't really have a great faith in government. That's why we want the government to be small and poorly funded.

P.S. George Bush is not, and never has been, a conservative.

I can't believe this... Bush has been lying for years, and you can tell because every time he says something is sounds funny and makes no logical sense and he always has a lopsided sneer on his face when he says it.

I would say just about everything coming out of the Bush Administration is a lie. In a close second, everything coming out of Congress, both Republican and Democrat, is also lies. Lying is the watchword of government today.

governments have to lie...its their job...if the people knew the truth there would be a revolution and that is something the government doesn't want. All people given power will do anything to keep it.
