From a psychological perspective, if the dream is consciously remembered, it should be stored along with other memories... if the dream is strong enough and real enough, it may confuse the person in the future as to whether or not it really happened...

But a question does arise from this in that most dreams we have are not remembered upon waking... do these dreams reside in our memories anyway? Trapped in some part of the brain that is generally inaccessible?

Interesting question for research to resolve.

Peace

Some dreams burst and vanish into oblivion the moment we've opened our eyes. Some linger through the day...in a pulsating awareness. Some last forever...in the infinity of time, inside a wishful heart.

It remained for me just as an ordinary dream, t'was just like a fantasy in life. But some of my dreams return after several years. It is like a flashback of the scenes where i have been into. A rewind actually of the story. After that, it is gone waiting for another night to start for another dream.

i think it always stays in your memory and certain things you see trigger a flash back of what you have dreamt and you start piecing that dream together but you always have a sense of missing the most vital bit which gives you the full meaning of what you dreamt. yep that may sound backwards not sure but it is midnight and my eyes are about shut lol;-)

well, some of my dreams just come and go, some stays, and some i went on doing and making it reality. =)

some just have a big impact on me, and some just disturbs me, but i always thought that dreams are all my deepest desires, only shown in the form of dreams, cause i can't make them real.

Deep into the recesses of your memory, where it will stay unnoticed, unless your mind decides it needs to use it as a recurring dream.

I had this dream last night that was very depressing. I won't say what happened but I know it's in my head, I'll never forget what happened.

Where does a footrace go after you've run it? These things are not objects like books, that continue until they are destroyed - they are events, and are no longer after they have ended.

Dreams are thoughts, are energy, which cannot just disappear.
They go from dreamtime into the future, where they effect change.

Into your memory - otherwise, probably the same place as the extra bits when a computer memory is cleared.
