I assume you want an equation of price as a function of year (time).

a) What equation would illustrate the price of gas under the new law?

p(t) = $4.26

It does not vary with t.

b) Write an equation of a line that is parallel to your answer in part a.

There is no unique answer. There are an infinite number of possibilties. One is:

p(t) = $5.00

Any other constant would do as well

A.)
gas prices = 4.26(X)

x= the number of gallons of gas purchased

B.)
gas prices = 4.26(X) +.12

x= the number of gallons of gas purchased

these two lines are parallel because they have the same slope and different y-intercepts.
