True - but along the way you'll find stuff you weren't even looking for, which may make a greater impact on your life than finding the thing you were initially looking for.
It's called: serendipity - "~ the effect by which one accidentally discovers something fortunate, especially while looking for something else entirely."

In other words you keep moving - life brings its own discoveries.

I do not agree. When I first started my Path I could not define what I was looking for, where exactly I was, or even have a clue how I would get there. In fact I started for that very reason, I just knew that everything in the world I had tried was not it. Sometimes that is what is necessary to get us started. If I already think I know the answer, it colors my vision & I am looking only for that & will miss what is sent. Most people are unaware that they do not know what they are searching for, & there fore try to fill the longing with anything that will shut it off.

Certainly. Unless we know what we're looking for, there's no way we can find it. But mind you,..there were times when after having found what we seeked for, we experienced a bit of doubt and looked to other sides for more concrete proof of our find...and then we got messed up and ended up empty handed like we never found whatever that which we were looking for. That's when the conclusion becomes - we haven't found nothing at all! Actually, we've just lost track of what really we were looking for.

Without purpose one is aimless. Happening upon something by chance or accident is possible but not probable. Vision plus action equals introspection.

What is that thing or what are those things. First, are spritual gifts followed by social, political, economic, etc... Yet it is the intangiable ones such as love, passion, and freedom we find in our own hearts and witness and experience on our own journies that brings us to the forefront of purpose.

Yes, somewhere in your heart and soul you must know what you are looking for not only to identify it but to recognize it.

Well, you certainly have more chance of finding it if you know what you're looking for - but one of the great things in life is we so often find what we weren't looking for (for good or ill). It certainly makes life more interesting and exciting.

a lot of people know what they want in life,
how come when they get it, they still look for something else?
some people dont really know what to look for,
and they discovered vaccine, the machu pichu, the cosmos...
=))))))))))))))))))))

one of the ironies of life is that people who believe they are on the right direction, often chooses the safest paths....
and those unsure of where they are going often stumble on treasures... some even pave their own ways. making the most barren landscapes intro exciting trailways leading to adventure....
i am not saying this coz i dont have that sense of direction. i simply believe that Life is and will always be unpredictable.. it's not wrong to set your goal, but always learn to be adjustable. We will not always find what we look for, but learn to appreciate what are at hand, what we have discovered along the journey even if we dont exactly get what we wanted.
Someday youd look back, you might say "oh well, i thought i never found happiness... but i was really happy all along"
=))))))))))))))))))

Not necessarily. Sometimes we don't realize that we are missing out on something until such time as we actually are faced with it, and then we realize that we want it and don't know how we lived without it. I am not speaking of material things so much as psychological things, i.e. love.

Au contraire! It is simplicity itself to find that which you are not looking for. What is rare is recognizing its importance.
