I heard the song Common man by John Conlee on the radio about a week ago and really really liked it. I've been a country fan for quite some time and had never heard of him before I bought his classics cd today and it is really good. When was the last hit he had and why haven't I heard of him until now?

Most of his hits came in the urban cowboy era of country music with most of his hits between 1978 and 1987.
Most current country stations won't play him as he's considered part of the older classic country (he was before "young country" and was pre- garth brooks.. Most country stations play 1990 or later country)

Another artist that's good from that time frame (and who does have a name close to his) is Earl Thomas Conley... another artist that has kind of the same flavor as John Conlee IMO

That is The John Conlee. A great country star in his own right.
with Rose colored glasses, he had a new sound that most country fans loved. Not like today, where you will hardly remember who sang what yesterday, Sorry I'm from the old school. Also another of his hits.

Who does not remember "Rose Colored Glasses" that he recorded as a hit that brought him into the limelight of the public?
John Conlee has been around in the Country venue since the late 1970s. A great singer in his own right.

I don't think he's had a hit since the late 80's. I like John Conlee a lot. I love the song "Old Yellow Car".

His first big hit was Rose Colored Glasses years ago. He is a great singer and a great man. He sings frequently on the Grand Ole Opry. If you get CMT, check the time the Opry is on tv and you can catch him on their often.

He had several good songs but mostly 70's and 80's.
Rose Colored Glasses and Backside Of Thirty, were my faves from him.
