Okay, since some are suggesting the whole "lighten up and move on to more important things" philosophy, let me add something.

Is it okay to have an avatar of a burning cross or a man who has been lynched in a forum focusing on race?

Is it okay to have an avatar of Hitler or a swastika in a Jewish forum?

Is it okay to have an avatar of a woman's stillettos stepping on a man's testicles in this forum?

Is there a line to be drawn? If so, what is it?

No. That's where I would draw the line.

A misogynist mass murderer avatar on a women's study forum is like a hitler avatar in a jewish forum, which would be considered incitement to racial hatred. So must be considered as incitement to gender hatred.

EDIT:
He's gone quiet. I think he has gone. But what is there to stop him coming back as another avatar

I wouldn't allow any mass murderer pictures, I can't believe that follows Yahoo's Community Guidelines.

For those that say they believe in free speech at any cost, if all the GWS posters changed their avators to pictures of women who had tortured and killed men, would it still be ok?

What if we all changed our avator picture's to those of people who had raped, tortured and mass murdered children?

I think there is a line that needs to be drawn as far as violence goes, I don't see any reason for glorifying rapists or murderers.

If I had authority in Y!A, I would not allow the same name for multiple posters. The person who used his photo also used the name of another poster.

I don't know if I'm the first Rainbow, but I'm not the only one.

Probably ... not. Especially when it's in the Women's Studies section and cloning a woman and is therefore obviously meant to inflame and offend. It would be rather different if he was inconspicuously answering serious questions in the automotive or cooking or art categories - until, of course, somebody figured out *who* the avatar picture was, at which time they'd be like, "wtf." I didn't even know who the guy in the picture was until some of you mentioned it.

Oh my God I can't believe anyone would be able to post this. It is so disgusting. They don't allow any kind of racism but it is ok to glorify killing many women. Then did you see what he wrote to that lady who posted the original question. He said she should have been at that college which to me is just as threatening as if he said he was personally going to shoot her. This is one of those anti feminists and that is about all I expect from them.

I was appalled when I read the question about this and his reply to deirdre. Yahoo should contact interpol and they should flag this guy. I have seen his rantings before under other guises. He posted a nasty rant threatening the feminists in YFL and needs to be addressed. He is a sick man and should be monitored. Yahoo should pull all of his multiple accounts.

It is called sexism gender hate and despicable.
If that was a avatar that depicted racial violence or violence towards a man it would not be condoned.

Yes, freedom of speech. If that's who they choose to be represented by, then it's fine for them. I could care less if someone had an avatar of Hitler, a member of the KKK, Valarie Solanas, etc.

EDIT:
Yes to all! FREEDOM!!! (I can't wait till I'm in control oh Yahoo! so I can make myself a level 7 with 100% Best Answers!)

(Come to think of it, if I was in control of Y!A, every question would be allowed and I'd make it 18+ instead of 13+.)
