People say im not german?

Question

I am german some irish but mostly german.One day this girl asked me what nationalty i am.I said german because thats what i am,i fallow the german culture speak german and my whole family is german accept for my great grandmother who was irish.I felt really offended when she said that im not german because i dont like german,germans only have blond hair and blue eyes.And i have brown eyes and dark brown hair,what do you guys think?

Germans come in more than one variety. Even some relatively pure Germans have dark hair and dark eyes - it's not necessarily a sign of excessive intermixing.

Ignore her. She is ignorant and kinda racist. You don't have to look a certain way just because most of the popularity from where your born look that way. Plus the only reason most people think Germans look that way and most germans do look that way is because Hitler put that on everyone's head. And most people that didn't have blonde hair and blue eyes got killed during the Holocaust witch results to more blonde hair and blue eyes and the population grew with more of that type of looking people.

I think she must never have been to Germany. Sure, there are blonde blue-eyed people, but lots more besides. But even Germans have a mixed pedigree when you peel back the pages of history. Many ancestors came from other places, either as conquerors, traders or settlers, and they brought their DNA with them.

Here in Ireland, we attribute brown-eyed dark-haired people to the sailors of the Spanish Armada whose boats went aground off the Irish coast in 1588. There were survivors who came ashore and stayed .... and their descendants inherited their Mediterranean looks.

You know your pedigree is German. That girl had preconceived ideas. Wrong, as it happened. Does it matter what she thought?

Its only the so called "Aryan master race" that Hitler tried to create who had blue eyes and blond hair. Many Germans have brown eyes and dark brown hair. Actually, so did that evil little man Hitler. That girl who said you're not German is either quite misinformed or quite stupid.

I am Irish and polish. I am proud of where my family comes from, but above all i am an American. she is pretty ignorant to think that all Germans are Blondie's with blue eyes. As a matter of fact most Germans i have met have dark hair and dark eyes.

lol! I have German in my blood when I was younger I had blond hair & so did my son as you age your hair darkens.My German Father has brown eyes, you are German so for now on only surround yourself around positive people.

she's an idiot. any person who isn't completely stupid knows that germans have all types of hair and eyes. she is thinking about the Aryan race that Hitler thought was the ideal german--blonde hair and blue eyes. but Hitler, too, was a dumba$$ so that doesnt matter.

She doesn't know what she's talking about. I'm almost all German with a little English and everyone in my family looks different. We don't all have the same coloring.
