Warm orange juice! Up the intake of fruit and fibre!

Make sure she is eating as much fiber as possible. Vegetables are the best source of fiber, so is food like bran. I am dealing with this issue to, and to help alleviate the problem, I drink about 15 oz. of orange juice a day and I try to eat all the fiber I can get my hands on.

If it gets to the point that it causes hemorroids, the best thing to alleviate the swelling and bleeding in the rectal area is to have use baby wipes to gently dab the area. The coolness will ease the swelling. And to help with that and to stop the bleeding, have her take a sitz bath in luke warm water with her feet propped up so that just her bottom is submerged in the water.

I have had to do this before so I feel her pain. But fiber is the best thing to do. I took a stool softener but it never worked. Try those things I suggested, and if she is still suffering, have her see her doctor for more advice.

Good luck!

constipation during pregnancy is more complicated because of several factors behind the problem. One factor is that a pregnant woman has hormonal changes, and this hormonal change will cause the digestive system to slow down the movement of food. Others include diet, the intake some vitamins and medication. Thus it is better to consult your obstetrician or physician for further advise. In addition, you can take some herbal remedies for constipation, eat foods rich in fiber, and increase water intake will help treat constipation effectively.

Applejuice works wonders. She should try to drink a lot of apple juice or eat some apples. There are also a few different medications that can soften it that are pregnancy safe. Try giving any doctors office a call and ask, they should be able to help you out easily. Go to www.babycenter.com and type in constipation in the search bar, lots of good info on that page. I put the direct link below.

Try more fruit such as red grapes, orange juice and watermelon. Apples tend to not help the problem.

Also, drink hot drinks like tea or cocoa (the amount of caffeine in cocoa is small).

Finally, it is possible it's the iron in her vitamins that are causing the problem. Try cutting in half and have half in the am. and half in the p.m.

She is okay to take stool softeners to help. Also warm apple juice tends to work well. Or one way that works for me is to go eat at mcdonalds... I don't eat alot of fast food so I tend to have issues with the grease in their food.

I've heard a lot of unsafe things about suppositories...if she can stand it...heat the prune juice, hold her nose and down it.If not , my dr. told me to take philips milk of magnesia when I was pregnant, that it was safe(the liquid).I had a healthy baby...but it was yucky...held my nose and downed it...sorry don't have any better advise!
