That we are only after his money? My boyfriend isnt the richest guy in the world, but he is hardworking, drives a nice car and shares a house with his roommate. I dont depend on him AT ALL, because I work and when Im done with my schooling, I'll probably make in six figures, three times what he is currently making. All the black f/ white m couples I know have women who are Registered Nurses or Physician's assistants (except my aunt who works at a bank in London), so I dont see why these women would depend on their white men, when they make a lot of money on their own.
Its just really annoying when people assume stupid stuff. What are your thoughts?

I know exactly what you mean, especially if you go to the movies it's always the lone black guy who wants to shout "Get all his money" that is so tacky. I'm finishing my bachelors in paralegal studies after that I'm off to law school my guy is an egineer (he does pretty well, yes he's white). I work as an Admin. Asst. I do okay, I'm able to support myself through school help my mom and take care of my 12 sister on what I make, so I feel like I'm doing okay. We (my bf and I) like each because of our personalities and our chemistry together. We have the same goals and want the same things. Yes, I have always been attracted to white men and him black women. I don't date white men because of how much them make that's crazy, I just like thier laid back energy. It's great to be able to just talk and hang out w/o all that drama!

This question is quite awkward considering the fact that most people who have been paying attention know that a number of white males (I will concentrate on the males) have been marketing themselves using money or riches. Hasn't that been the intention when people have pointed out how poor/ "dirt poor" so and so is and how rich so and so is? At the same time we have been told repeatedly that money rules and if you don't have it you're nothing. We have been living in a material world (remember material girl?). The result of it all is that today there are people who are going to look for a man that can help them live "the good life". And because society is always contradicting itself the women - or men - who do this will then be branded as "gold diggers" because they listened to the message. It's sick.

I don't know why some people assume that black women only date interracailly because of a guy's income. When in actuality their are more black women finishing school, finding jobs with a higher income then most men black or white. Some people just don't let certain stereotypes go. Just don't worry about them and be an independent woman with a great guy.

Hmmm. When I dated a white guy, I think he must have thought this was at least partially true; he gave me a huge diamond and a stock portfolio after our third date!
Of course, I refused both. Our incomes were about the same, but he had a rich family and therefore a big head start.
To be honest, I've learned not to care what anyone thinks.

I think people are just ignorant sometimes and they expect certain things based on their own reality, behavior and belief system... so I wouldn't even give a thought, you have no control over what people think and some people are just mean spirited so the best way to overcome that is by just being happy... Good Luck! :)

Well because alot of people see it happen.... My brothers father has been infatuated with black women since he left his last wife, and he has been used and used by black women ever since. Now maybe its his taste in women that have no class but his white wives never did it to him. So people don't assume it for no good reason they must have been through it or knowin someone that has been. I'm sure not all black women do it though, there are users in every race.

I'm black and I have went with a few jobless white dudes... because I thought they were cute and had potential... I was wrong, lol!
I date men because I see something in them that I like, I have my own money, I don't need theirs.
