Because I live in the US, am French and overall I like the US and its citizens :-)
BTW, French people like America and Americans, they just have some disagreements from time to time with your government:-)
It is time to heal the wounds, and I believe we are still more reliable and closer to you than Irak, Paksitan or Saudi Arabia :-) don't you think????

I feel a new warmth for the French, since Chirac stepped down. The old socialist sure was opinionated, and we think George Bush does a poor job at international diplomacy !

The new French Prime Minister seems to really have it together. His wife especially is going to be really popular. She will be another Jacqueline Kennedy in popularity at the rate she is going. The ink was barely dry on his new assignment before she was off to Libya to escort the medical team that was accused of infecting Libyan children with HIV . This, I am convinced was another ploy by Gaddafi, to take attention off Libya for blowing up passenger aircraft.

I think the french are some of the smartest people around. They were smart enough to see past all the hype surrounding iraq, they knew iraq had nothing to do with 9/11 and that was exactly what the republican ruling powers were feeding off of. It even fooled some of our best and brightest- the democrats. When the french refused to follow us into iraq america went crazy with anti french sentiment. they even started calling french fries american fries. turns out the french were smart. and I guess we're even in helping each other out with independance the french helped us in the revolutionary war and we helped free the french from the nazis, so i don't think they owed us anything in iraq. we should follow their example in energy and government. the french are the best.

No, I do not like the country. As far as the people, it depends. I probably dislike more Americans then french people, but there are more Americans then French.

The thing is we have no idea how reliable France really is as an ally. And it has nothing to do with Iraq, but rather the whole "If we can't control NATO we'll take our toys and go home" bit from the late 60s.

My mother is French, I'm an American, and I dont mind the French.

They have their own culture and such, and no culture is perfect. Some aspects of French culture get on my nerves, but if I had grown up there, I probably wouldnt even notice.

From my experience most French people are very welcoming and friendly with Americans. As you said, they have problems with policy and government, but not with us as a people.

I could live there. On so many levels and for more reasons than I could enumerate, France is wonderful. I am saying this as a 5th Generation Texan.
