You've asked two different questions!

The only one that makes sense is:
a^x = 5, and
5/a = (a^x)/a = a^(x-1)

Your seecond sentence reversed the x, a -- be careful!!

assuming your original question

5 = a^x

then 5 / a = (a^x) / a use the laws of exponents to solve

[aside: a^2 / a = a, a^9 / a = a^8)

your answer for (a^x) / a = a^x-1

5=a^x
hence 5/a=(a^x)/a
which equals to a^(x-1) by rule of Indices
Hence correct answer is: a raised x-1

You have said 5 = a^(x) and then go on to say 5 = x^(a)-----confusion reigns!

First Attempt
5 = a^(x)
5/a = a^x / a
5/a = a^(x - 1)

Second Attempt
5 = x^a
5/x = x^a / x
5/x = x^(a - 1)

You choose!!!
