A friend of mine, who goes to college there, just came home on vacation. She was telling me about her experience. In Cuba there are zero homeless people, everyone is given the basic necessities for life such as: shelter, clothing and food. Medical care is even free and so is college and it's just as good as U.S colleges.
For a poor country that's really good, so my question is: Why doesn't America take care of it's people like that? In Cuba you still have to work but you are at least helped.

I know that Cuba is a communist community but that has nothing to do with question.

It's called Communism............
Basically everyone has a job and gets paid basically the same amount. Great in theory but when you take in account the fact that most people would rather be construction workers than doctors if they are getting the same pay than it becomes messy. Also they have almost ZERO FREE SPEECH and quality of life is much worse than most places.
To put it briefly
Its better to be poor in Cuba than it is to be Poor in the US
Everything else USA>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
There is a reason why everday hundreds of Cubans leave on a raft to miami.

Before the name calling starts, one must ask if Cuba is such a wonderful place to be, how come so many literally DIE to get out of there? Ask the Cubans in Miami how wonderful a life they had in Cuba.
It is apparent that your friend has been brainwashed. Is she one of those inner-city medical students, whose tuition is paid by the Cuban government? If so, expect her to say nice things about it. She has only seen what she has been allowed to see.
She apparently has not seen the homeless who are still waiting for a place to live after the last hurricanes hit, the empty store shelves, the ration books, or the inferior quality of goods available in the government stores.
Not many countries are dying to embrace the failed system of communism. It was tried and it has been an abyssmal failure.

How does your friend get back and forth, since the U.S. government doesn't offer passports to Cuba or accept passports from Cuba? The only Cubans here are here because they were granted political asylum or they fled in the 1960s, etc.

Because Americans aren't happy to just live modestly and work really hard for services like that like the Cubans. Not to mention that Americans have a little problem on their hands called Iraq.

The Cuban Health Care system is better than ours too. A prescription that costs $200 here, the same medicine costs 5 cents in Cuba. The News Media will only the negative parts about Cuba, never the good parts.

Maybe when we get up to the high standards of living in which the Cubans enjoy, then we, too, will no longer have homeless people.

If people are given those things, then they are less likely to work harder, and thus bringing in less tax. Why should the rich have to pay for the poor just because they don't have a job/home. That would be unfair, i could sit all day and not go to work, while the government payed me money.

good question girl, by the way to answer your question I don't know but America should take care of it's people like that. But think about it a lot of people in America would rather keep the money to themselves instead of benefiting other Americans!!!
