The trick that actors use to cry on cue is something that you may have never heard of.
It is called "talent".
There is a reason actors get paid to act.

Absolutely not...certainly not a professional actor.
Have you ever seen someone on a stage say, "Excuse me a moment," turn away and shove an onion in his eye? Or subtly slip out a tube of eyedrops?
You become involved with your character, you get carried with the emotion. There isn't a secret or trick, only the fact that I guarantee that if you are as involved with your character as you should be, when the character is meant to cry - you will cry. As is the whole philosophy of acting.
And as for the answer about electric shocks on the nipples...do you not think the actor would flinch just a little bit?
Sorry to disappoint you, but that is the professional attitude to take to any role. Even if you *could* use eyedrops, what does that say about your skill as a performer?
It's not difficult. It just takes practice.

It depends on the person. Some people can cry instantly without thinking of anything or u will hve to use eyedrops but denzil washington went to a emotional classes with a famous theatre person when he was younger who taught him how to be emotional when he acts

I don't reccommend anyone use tiger balm, to make them cry, cause i heard it can damage your eyes.
One actress, i heard about said she had a hairdryer, in her face for a few seconds, another said she was told to think of bad things.
I saw once on the "Doctors" series, this woman who had like a lipstick looking stick, ' a cry stick' is what it was called.
Though, I think that it can be different for everyone.
I agree with mamabee in getting in character.
Like before when i've practised, it seemed to work a bit, but you have to tell yourself, you are the character, and you're going through everything, that they are going through.
Like, getting inside the characters head, and feeling their thoughts..

Usually when an actor needs to cry for a scene they'll be motivated to do so by thinking of something emotional that happened in their own life and incorporate that emotion into the scene.

I have answered this one twice before on Yahoo answers.
Actors cry on cue because they are acting. If you know what acting is and you do that-- then if the character cries in a scene so do you.

I once watched someone being interviewed and was asked the very same question. If it is a very heart wrenching scene, they think about very sad things that have happened and it brings the tears - this may have been that one particular persons way, I'm not sure!

A true actor listens to what is being said to them and what they are saying. If you listen to the words the emotions come out through the character you are portraying. "Acting is Reacting"
