I took drum lessons several years ago for a short time. I've been wanting to start again. I don't want to buy a drum set just yet...I'm hoping to move in the next 6 months...and don't want to have to move it. I would like to get some sticks and atleast start working on learning some beats. Does anyone have suggestions on what sticks I should get? Also, any suggestions on what I should pratice on? Thanks in advance!

Depends on personal preference more than anything.

I personally recommend the Joey Jordison signature ahead sticks. They are incredibly light, and are very durable. You can pick them up for around $30, and they are worth the extra money.

As for what to practice on, I recommend either a REMO or Vic Firth practice pad. The REMO is tunable, and you can get the Vic Firth as a double sided practice pad for personal preference. They are both good buys and can be found for around $40.

Well...I only use 2 brands

1. Pro-Mark Oak 5Bs nylon tip ( because I can't break these)
2. Vic Firth Marching Corp sticks

Also, as for the Practice Pad. I have a REEL FEEL practice pad...love it...love it!

They are little pricy ($25-40), but worth it because they feel like a natrual drumhead with the bounce back.
I hope this helped you out a little and keep on drumming....never ever give up on it!

Don't know about sticks, but u could get a practice pad. Maybe if u bought one the shop would let u try out a few sticks to see which u preferred. Hope this helps

A practice pad would be a good. Sticks are a personal choice. What feels good in your hands and what kind of music you'll play. If you're feeling bold you can buy a snare drum and start with that.

Get Vic Firths or Zildjian. Drum Pads should work.
