You're not taking your virginity you're losing your hymen. Don't listen to the idiots who think it's a "gift" and you have to wait. It's merely a membrane that has no connection to virginity. So yes, it's fine if you do it by yourself. You'll probably be less stressed, it will make your first sexual experience less painful (if you're worried about that) and then you know you didn't make some creepy guy break into you. I know some girls who did this deliberately or by accident. Mine happened in a bike accident to technically some idiots would think I was "taking my own virginity" - fine by me - it was my virginity not someone else's to take anyway.

There are many different beliefs about what virginity loss is. Most people agree that women and men lose their virginity the first time they have penile-vaginal intercourse. Many people also believe that people who have sex with the same sex can lose virginity through oral or anal intercourse. Some also believe that people have to give consent to lose their virginity — that virgins who are raped, for example, do not lose their virginity. Nearly all people in the U.S. agree, however, that people who masturbate or have other kinds of sex play — including fingering, or touching a sex partner's genitals with the hands — are still virgins.
There are still some people who think about virginity in a very old-fashioned kind of way. They believe that an intact hymen — the thin tissue that stretches across at least part of the opening of the vagina in most girls at birth — is the only proof of a woman's virginity. Most people do not believe this. They know that each girl is born with a hymen, but that hymens come in a variety of shapes and sizes — and some girls may appear to have no hymen at all. Many people also know that it is possible for a woman's hymen to become stretched open through insertive masturbation as well as during sports and other non-sexual activities. So, they do not believe the condition of the hymen is an accurate definition of virginity.
Keep in mind that in most states, people have to be 18 or 21 to purchase dildos and other sex toys. In a few states, it's actually illegal for anyone to purchase them.
Hope this information helps!

If you ask me, I wouldn't consider that as taking your virginity away. I would consider virginity as never having sex with someone else. And I don't see why it wouldn't be advisable. Girls use sex toys on themselves all the time. It's normal.

This sounds like a warped question.
First of all, by definition, the only way to lose it is by having sex.
As for using toys, go ahead and enjoy, one thing has nothing to do with the other.
As for "breaking it in" I think you are fine either way, but I am sure you can spare the poor boy the trauma of having to do it the first time if you want.

I don't want to seem gross but you are missing the definition of virgin. A virgin is someone who has never had sex, sex is when the penis is inserted into the vagina. So it is impossible to take your own virginity. You could break you hymen on your own. But why would you want to?

The loss of virginity strictly comes with the first experience of sexual intercourse. Breaking of the hymen via other methods is not losing one's virginity.

You can't take your own virginity. Only a penis into the vagina can take your virginity.
Now, if you mean your hymen breaking, it can break with any type of physical activity.

You're still a virgin until you have an actual penis in you, in my mentality. It's safe to use sex toys wen you're a virgin, for the record.
