Those who read the Mirror forums will probably have already read my postings on this, but I have posted an addition to my original theory.

I think that while everyone is focusing on the 'missing hour' of 9 - 10pm and wondering where everyone was and what they were doing, we are missing out on another vital hour.

That of 10pm - 11pm.

Why?

Because Kate raised the alarm at 10pm, however the police werent called till 10:40pm and didnt arrive till nearly 11pm!

And the beauty of it, not one of the Tapas 9 (except Gerry and Kate) need to have an alibi. Thats because they are all off searching for Madeleine. So anyone of them could be missing for this hour and nobody would notice. And even if they did, the person could justify it by saying he was searching for Madeleine in the side streets.

So why is this extra hour important? Well Ive posted why I believe this is important here :)

EDIT - Van der Elst - Motive in this case is null and void, because if its an accident there is no need for a motive.

Buttercup - Thanks for the edit ;) Its easier to say Tapas 7 than Gerry and Kate's friends that night. Thats all. Yes I know its an 'emotive' term, but hey ho ....

Stop reading so much into it. The parents KILLED the girl before they went out. They disposed of her body before they went out.
WAKE UP WORLD.
Why is it so hard to believe that parents kill their children when it happens all the time?

Very good point, Dave. I didn't think about that 10pm-11pm hour either until you mentioned it. The one article I read did mention that some of the evidence did come from one of the vehicles, so maybe someone did dispose of a body. I can't wait to find out if this suspect is one of the McCanns friends, I wouldn't be suprised at all. And for those who say a body thrown into the sea would've have been found by now, that is not necessarily true. I live here in the U.S. and we had a case a few years back, remember Laci Peterson? She was a pregnant woman who was killed by her husband and then he dumped her body into the ocean. She was killed and disposed of on December 24th and her body did not wash ashore until the following April. As I recall, her husband also claimed she must have been "abducted" as well. He even went on ABC news, crying to Diane Sawyer, that he just wanted to find his wife, knowing full well that he had killed her already! I thought about this Peterson case again when this whole Madeleine thing first came to light, I thought that it could turn out to be a similiar scenario. I also saw a question on here a few days back that made mention to Gerry using the word "was" in referring to Madeleine. I don't remember who asked that question, but I remember that they were questioning Gerry's use of a past-tense word like "was". As I recall, Mr. Peterson made the same slip-up in his interview with Diane Sawyer, making statements like "Laci was such a beautiful person", instead of "is". In fact, I think the police used that portion of the interview as evidence in his murder trial. Words can speak volumes! Let's hope for a conclusion to this whole mess soon!!

Spot on Dave.

The 'search' between 10 and 11 gave anyone the opportunity to legitimately leave the immediate area in a car. They could have had anything in the boot and could have gone anywhere within say a 20 mile radius, all whilst purportedly helping by extending the range of the search.

What we don't know (as far as I am aware) is the movements during that hour of all the people involved but perhaps the police now does.

Yes, I think this is a good theory. I think u have put forward a very good intelligent supposition to what happened that evening considering some of the facts that we have.
However, I have got a gut feeling that the parents weren't involved, but somebody or maybe 2 were. What we dont know about the parties concerned is their relationships prior to going on holiday together. The children were born by IVF, is Gerry actually the father or somebody else that has harboured some sort of grudge from way back.

All this sounds very plausible to me. They killed her, R took her body away and the McCanns pushed the abduction theory down everyone's throat and peddled it all around the world raising money and looking for the sympathy vote. There was no motive for killing Maddy, it just happened either as an accident or overdose and on the spur of the moment they conspired to cover up this whole thing and have continued until this day because there is no turning back now. I just hope no one pops off R before the police get to question him and he spills the beans on the whole sordid affair.

Do you know that "disposing of a body" is the most difficult part of a murder??? Even more difficult than the murder itself.

Even if they had 3 HOURS (NOT JUST 1 HOUR) at their disposal, don't you think with the coverage & the rewards & the pressure on the Portugal Police & the expert dogs & the intense need to get this case solved, a body "disposed off" in a measely 1 hour, or say even 3 hours, wouldn't have been found by now????????

C'mon, you don't have a heart, at least use your brain...!

As I have said before Big Guy, you should be a detective!! When did you think of that? When you were in the pub today? Wonder what would happen if you were exactly right? What would the pro McCanns have to say then? Keep up the good work!

It's all very well Dave but until the police can establish a time of death everything is pure fantasy. Unless someone confesses I can't see how this case will be resolved. No body, no time of death, it's not going to be easy.

Why does the friend help? It is one thing to cover up a death, by lying about someones whereabouts for example, quite another to participate in the way you have suggested, which carries the risk of discovery.

3 people have to cover up what has happened in the Tapas bar. No one appears to have said anything to suggest unusual behaviour by the people in the bar. Note I say unusual behaviour not bursting into tears. There was a quiz on. When I have played in one of these quizs I look across to other tables to see if they seem to have got an answer right or how well they seem to be doing. Lots of attention including from people working in the bar of course.

I think you're onto something here Dave. I did read this on the mirror forum but couldn't comment as for some reason I can't get on!

dave read your theory think time wise you have a point but no motive really do you think r an j had something to do with Maddie's disappearances ,why what rationally had they to gain, no money revenge possibly, but not fianical sorry i do agree with you that the tapas nine have a lot to answer for but i don,t agree that they were responsible for Maddie,s sake, i hope you are wrong i think we all want to see that she is still alive....
