no do not do it. I weld on liquid oxygen tanks (lox). And we purge it with nitrogen, use a "sniffer" to test for o2, and have the fire dept on recall. For you i would reccomend removing the fuel tank, drain it, and either let it set with the cap off for a few weeks, or purging it with water if you dont have a few weeks to wait. Now you may get a little bit of flash rust in the tank. Eastwood makes a product to remove the rust and seal the tank if you are concerned with that.

You can if you want to die. You need to drain the tank. Pull it off, and take it to a shop that will boil the tank out. Generally a radiator shop will boil it out for you. After that all the gas fumes should be out of the tank, ONLY when all the gas fumes are gone, will the tank be safe to weld on.

The easiest way to fix it is to throw a lit match into the puddle of gas under the car and the heat from the fire will seal the hole in the tank.

Are you joking? No!!!
Pro only repair. They will remove it, pour the gas out, and flush the tank with some kind of thing that gets rid of all the fumes, before attempting. If not done exactly right, it *will* blow up.
You can maybe fix it with some JB weld.
Oh. Now I see your Y!A name.

You may as well shoot fireworks down into your gas tank while your at it. Just make sure you have someone video tape it so everyone can point and laugh at how stupid someone can be.
