A couple days ago I had to change the left rear caliper on my '95 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme using a Murray's refurbished replacement. After replacing it I used one of those one-man bleed kits to bleed the two rear calipers. When done I took her out for a test drive but noticed the brakes felt spongy and weak; the pedal seemed to have too much play.

Well of course I figured there was still air left in the lines and I'd have to bleed the system again. But when I drove the car the next morning the brakes felt firm and solid! Since the brake lines can't bleed themselves I figured some nice car elves must have dropped by during the night and did all the work for me. How thoughtful of them! What's the best way for me to thank them for their kindness?

What probably happened was when you first put it together the Caliper was fully expanded and it took several usages to get it all the way down. Not unusual when changing calipers or replacin pads. You might want to check the fluid to see that it's topped off now that the system has set in.

NO , brakes structures are nevertheless on the availability and demand record. general automobiles have a front disk and rear drum set up. i offered 2 new automobiles in 2 years and the two have that device. front rotors do a super style of the braking and the lower back drums are purely there as help with the park brake. an entire 4 wheel disc device provides value to each automobile. A disc brake device desires much less aspects to do the job however the tend to be extra high priced to swap.

Those were gravity elves. If the line goes uphill from the caliper to the master cylinder, air will work it's way out.

Hi..Why don't you just have a couple of pizzas and some soft drinks or cold beer, delivered to the elves hide away, with a thank you card. Elves love pizza..Some Elves even like pepperoni or sausage on one of the pies..Just a thought!
Enjoy the rest of your summer!

Hi :) This has nothing to do with your question but I just wanted to say... wow! You have a wireless laptop and live in a condo?! Sweet. I've had the internet for the first time in my life for a whopping three weeks now. And it is nice but would be nicer to only meet people who don't feel they have to be so profound because they usually end up sounding a bit ignorant. Anyhow I hope I haven't offended you! Take care. :)

I assume they are shy wee elves...who do not like to show their cute selves.

So..put a small note on your car..with a huge smily face..saying..Thank-you...attach a few candies to the note for the elves to eat.

:-)
